Information:
3. Turn the valves (2) for fuel supply to "OFF" position. Disconnect the two supply lines (3) from each side of tank.4. Disconnect wires (1) and (5) from the starter and the solenoid.5. Remove the fuel tank (4). Weight of tank when empty is 310 lb. (141 kg). 6. On power shift machines, remove bolts (8) from drain pipe for flywheel housing.7. Disconnect line (7) for engine oil pressure. Disconnect wire harness (6) for glow plugs. 8. Remove the line (11) for the hydraulic brakes. The line is fastened to oil pan plate.9. Disconnect the control linkage for the governor.10. On power shift machines, disconnect the oil lines (9) and (10) from the flywheel housing. 11. Disconnect the sensing unit (12) for water temperature.12. On power shift machines, disconnect oil lines (13) from the transmission oil cooler.13. Remove the clamps that hold wire harness to the engine. 14. Remove the bolts (14) that fasten the transmission to the flywheel housing.15. Fasten a hoist to the engine. 16. Remove the bolts and nuts (15) that fasten the front support to frame.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE17. Lift the engine just enough to make a separation between flywheel housing and transmission.18. Move the engine away from transmission until input shaft is free from flywheel clutch. Remove the engine. Weight is 2900 lb. (1,315 kg).Install Engine
1. Fasten a hoist to the engine. Lower the engine until the input shaft (1) and the hub (2) of flywheel clutch are in alignment. Move the engine forward until the drive shaft of transmission is engaged with spline on hub of flywheel clutch. If either a new front support, cylinder block, flywheel housing or transmission case has been installed, it will be necessary to check alignment of engine with transmission case. See ENGINE ALIGNMENT IN DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY. 2. Install the bolts (4) that fasten the transmission case to flywheel housing.3. Install the bolts that fasten the front support of engine to the frame.4. Put the wiring harness (3) in position on engine and install the clamps.5. Connect the control linkage for the governor. 6. On power shift machines, connect oil lines (5) and (6) to the flywheel housing. Connect oil line (7) to the transmission oil cooler.7. Install the line (8) for the hydraulic brakes. 8. Connect the sensing unit (9) for water temperature.9. On power shift machines, connect the drain pipe for flywheel housing and install the two bolts. 10. Connect line (11) for engine oil pressure.11. Connect wire harness (10) for glow plugs.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE12. Fasten a hoist to fuel tank. Install the fuel tank (12).13. Connect the fuel supply lines to each side of tank.14. Turn the valves for fuel supply to the "ON" position.15. Connect the wires to the starter and solenoid. 16. Put the tool box (13) on a floor jack and install the tool box on the frame.17. Install the side covers for engine.18. Fill the engine with lubricant and coolant.19. Remove air from the hydraulic brakes. See BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN TESTING AND ADJUSTING.end by: a) install hoodEngine Alignment
The vertical alignment of engine to the transmission is controlled by thickness of shims between front support of engine and support pads on the frame.Horizontal alignment of engine is controlled by the frame. A bent frame will keep engine from being in alignment horizontally.1. Place the engine into position in the frame. Install a bolt on each side of the transmission to hold engine to transmission. Do not tighten the bolts. This will give alignment of engine horizontally. 2. If the correct thickness of shims (1) are under the front support of engine, the machined surfaces of the flywheel housing and transmission case will be parallel and vertical alignment of engine will be correct.3. If the machined surfaces are not parallel and only the bottom part of the machined surfaces touch, add shims under the front support of engine until machined surfaces are parallel.4. If only the upper part of machined surfaces touch, remove shims from under front support of engine until the machined surfaces are parallel.5. A maximum gap from not being parallel of .007 in. (0,18 mm) is permissible between the bottom of flywheel housing and transmission housing. The top surfaces must be in contact.
