2647-5 The most likely cause of these codes is incorrect programming of the ECM. If the output is programmed correctly, one of the following conditions exists:
There is an open circuit in the vehicle wiring.
There is an open circuit in the device.

2647-6 The most likely cause of these codes is a short circuit in the vehicle wiring. If the wiring is OK, there is a problem with the device.
Follow the troubleshooting procedure in order to determine the root cause of the problem. Troubleshooting Procedure
Refer to Table 2. Determine the P1 terminal that is associated with the code.

Terminals that relate to the auxiliary outputs
Refer to Illustration 1. Inspect the P1 connector. Determine if a device is connected to the terminal that relates to the code. Note: A wire may be connected to a terminal of the P1 connector, but the wire may not be connected to a device. Refer to a schematic for the vehicle wiring in order to determine the actual configuration of the wiring. If a device is not connected to the terminal, the programming is incorrect. Use Cat ET to determine the programming of each device that is listed in Table 3. The devices are in the "Output Selections" group or the "Engine Monitoring Lamps" group. Determine the device that is incorrectly programmed to the terminal. Program the device to "None" in order to clear the code.If a device is connected to the terminal, there is a problem with the circuit. Use Cat ET to determine the programming of each device that is listed in Table 3. The devices are in the "Output Selections" group or the "Engine Monitoring Lamps" group. Determine the device that is programmed to the terminal that relates to the code. Refer to the appropriate troubleshooting procedure in order to troubleshoot the code.

All of the parameters in Table 3 were checked. The "Fast Idle Enabled Lamp" is programmed to "J1/P1:12". In this example, this programming is incorrect. Programming the "Fast Idle Enabled Lamp" parameter to "None" clears the 926-5 code. There is a 707-5 diagnostic code. Terminal P1-20 relates to this code. A wire is connected to terminal P1-20. However, the schematic for the vehicle wiring shows that the wire is not connected to a device on the vehicle. All of the parameters in Table 3 were checked. The "High Coolant Temperature Lamp Config" parameter is programmed to "J1/P1:20". In this example, this programming is incorrect. Programming the "High Coolant Temperature Lamp Config" parameter to "None" clears the 707-5 code. There is a 2646-5 diagnostic code. Terminal P1-13 relates to this code. A wire is connected to terminal P1-13. The schematic for the vehicle wiring shows that the wire is connected to the "Exhaust System High Temperature Lamp". The "Exhaust System High Temperature Lamp" parameter was checked. The parameter is programmed to "J1/P1:13". The appropriate troubleshooting procedure in this example is "Indicator Lamp - Test". Refer to that procedure in order to troubleshoot the code."Engine Running Output"
This parameter assigns a P1 terminal to the output for the starting motor relay. The output can be programmed to a high side ECM driver or to a low side ECM driver.High Side ECM Driver - The ECM sets the output to +Battery when the engine rpm increases above the programmed low idle speed. The ECM sets the output to ground if the engine rpm becomes 100 rpm less than the programmed idle speed. The ECM limits the output's current flow to two amperes.Low Side ECM Driver - The ECM sets the output to ground when the engine rpm is zero. The ECM sets the terminal to an open circuit when the engine rpm increases above the programmed low idle speed.

Low Side ECM Drivers
J1/P1:29, 30, 31 "Engine Shutdown Output"
This parameter assigns a P1 terminal to an output that can be used to shut down the vehicle's electrical system after the idle timer has expired. The output is enabled when the engine has been running for more than three seconds. The output is disabled when the engine rpm becomes 100 rpm less than the programmed idle speed for more than three seconds. The output can be programmed to a high side ECM driver or to a low side ECM driver. The ECM limits the output's current flow to two amperes when the output is programmed to a high side output driver.
