Information:

2. Remove the bolts that hold fan drive bracket (1) to the front of the engine.3. Install tool (A) as shown. Use tool (A) as a support for the fan and fan drive.
Make sure the fan does not cause damage to the radiator core when the fan drive is fastened to tool (A).
4. Remove bolts (2) that hold the water pump elbow to the cylinder head. 5. Remove the bolt and clip (4) that hold the water temperature sending unit line to the cylinder head.6. Remove water temperature sending unit (3) from the cylinder head. 7. Disconnect line (8) from the intake elbow.8. Remove the bolts that hold the intake elbow in position. Remove intake elbow (5).9. Remove bolt (9) and bracket (7).10. Remove the bolt and clip (10).11. Disconnect the wires from the glow plugs and remove harness (6). 12. Install a 3/4"-10 NC forged eyebolt at the rear of the cylinder head as shown.13. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder head. Remove the bolts that hold the cylinder in position. Remove cylinder head (11). Weight of the cylinder head is 230 lb. (104 kg).14. Remove the old cylinder head gasket.Install Cylinder Head
1. Clean the surface of the cylinder head and the cylinder block that make contact with each other. Install a new gasket on the cylinder block. 2. Fasten a hoist and put cylinder head (1) in position on the cylinder block.3. Install the push rods and rocker shaft. See INSTALL ROCKER SHAFT AND PUSH RODS.4. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of cylinder head and rocker shaft bolts. Install the bolts and washers and tighten bolts in the following step sequence: Step 1. Tighten all bolts in number sequence to a torque of 115 lb.ft. (155 N m).Step 2. Tighten all bolts in number sequence to a torque of 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m) again.Step 3. Tighten all bolts in number sequence (hand turn only) to a torque of 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m) again.Step 4. Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 22 lb.ft. (28 N m).Step 5. Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43 7 N m).Step 6. Tighten all bolts (hand turn only) in letter sequence to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43 7 N m). 5. Make adjustments to the valves. The intake valve clearance is .015 in. (0.38 mm) and the exhaust valve clearance is .025 in. (0.64 mm). See VALVE CLEARANCE in TESTING AND ADJUSTING. If necessary loosen the bolts that hold the water pump in place.6. Put the gasket in place and install the two bolts that hold the water pump elbow to the cylinder head.7. Install the wire harness for the glow plugs.8. Install the bracket for the dash.9. Install the intake elbow.10. Connect the air fuel ratio line to the intake elbow. Install the clip that holds the air fuel ratio line.11. Connect the water temperature sending unit to the cylinder head.12. Put the fan and fan drive in position against the front of the engine. Remove tool (A) and install the four bolts that hold the fan drive in position.13. Install the valve cover.
