Problem
New turbochargers can be installed on certain 789 Trucks and 3516 Engines (Spare) to improve performance/response, lower smoke levels, and reduce exhaust gas temperatures. These turbochargers also include the improvements to the compressor wheel, turbine wheel, and bearing housing that were implemented in the May 27, 1989 Service Letter - PS4278.

Action Required
Replace each of the four existing turbochargers with a 0R6158 Turbocharger, the new gaskets, and seals. Adjust the smoke limiter to the proper setting.

If there has been a previous repair in which the customer participated, part age will apply. Parts Disposition
Any parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) can be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
