Tilt the radiator guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator Guard - Tilt" in this module.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy assembly.The heavy assembly can fall if using an incorrect hoist to lift the load.Be sure the hoist has the correct capacity to lift a heavy assembly. Approximate weight of the body assembly is given below.

Disconnect the electrical connector in wire harness (5) to the horn and to the front lights. This electrical connector is located behind the radiator guard on the left side.
Attach tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to the radiator guard.Note: The radiator guard weighs 650 kg (1600 lb).
Carefully return the radiator guard from the tilt position to the upright position.Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator Guard - Tilt" in this module.

Remove bolts (1) and the washers. Open radiator grill (2) .
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Mark all tubes, wires, and hoses for correct installation. Plug all openings in order to prevent contamination or loss of fluids.
Drain the hydraulic oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

Disconnect both ends of tubes (3). Remove the tubes from the machine. Disconnect hoses (4) from the manifold and move the hoses out of the way.
Close the radiator grill and install the bolts.

Remove hinge pins (10) from each side of the radiator guard.
Use tool (A) and the lifting device to remove the radiator guard from the machine.Installation Procedure

Inspect the hinge pins, the bearings, the O-rings, and the hoses. Replace any worn components or damaged components.
Attach tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to the radiator guard.Note: The radiator guard weighs 6500 kg (1600 lb).
Use tool (A) and the lifting device to position the radiator guard on the machine.

Install hinge pins (10) on each side of the radiator guard.
Open the radiator grill.

Connect both ends of tubes (3). Install tubes (3) in the radiator guard. Connect hoses (4) to the manifold.
