Information:
After the fuel lines are disconnected, put caps or plugs in all the fuel line openings to keep dirt out of the fuel system.1. Disconnect the two fuel lines from fittings (4) and the two fuel lines from fittings (5).2. Disconnect line (3) from the air-fuel ratio control.3. Disconnect guide assembly (1) from the lever.4. Disconnect the mechanical shutoff group from lever assembly (6).5. Remove the bolts and disconnect bracket assembly (2) from the governor.6. Disconnect ether tube (7) from the fuel injection pump housing. 7. Remove the bolts and bracket (8).8. Remove the bolts, cover (9) and the gasket from the automatic timing advance cover. After the bolts that hold the automatic timing advance to the fuel pump camshaft are removed, the retainer is free to fall.9. Remove one bolt and install a 1/2"-13 NC guide bolt so the retainer does not fall when the remainder of the bolts are removed.10. Remove the bolts, the retainer and the guide bolt that hold the automatic timing advance in place. 11. Remove bolts (10) and brackets (12) from each side of the fuel injection pump housing as shown.12. Disconnect overflow tube (11) from the housing of the fuel transfer pump group. 13. Fasten nylon strap (13) and a hoist on the fuel injection pump housing and governor as shown. Carefully move the fuel injection pump housing and governor away from the front housing, and remove it from the engine. The weight of the fuel injection pump housing and governor is 59 kg (130 lb.).Install Fuel Injection Pump Housing And Governor
1. Remove timing bolt (1), cover (2) and plug (3). 2. Use tool (A) to turn the engine in a counterclockwise direction (as seen from the flywheel end of the engine) until timing bolt (1) can be installed into the flywheel. When the timing bolt can be turned freely in the threaded hole in the flywheel, the No. 1 piston is on top center. If the hole in the flywheel is turned beyond the hole in the flywheel housing, turn the flywheel back (clockwise) a minimum of 30° beyond the hole in the flywheel before turning counterclockwise toward the hole again. This will prevent a timing error caused by play in the timing gears. 3. To see if No. 1 piston is on the compression stroke, look at the valves of No. 1 cylinder. The valves will be closed if No. 1 cylinder is on the compression stroke. You should be able to move the rocker arms up and down with your hand.4. If No. 1 piston is not on the compression stroke, turn the flywheel 360° and install the timing bolt.
Typical Example5. Remove the plug from the front of the governor plate. Install tool (B) through the hole in the plate and turn the fuel pump camshaft until tool (B) can be installed into the notch.
Make sure there is not paint, dirt or foreign material on the machined surface of the fuel injection pump housing and the machined surface of the cylinder block. The surface must be clean before the fuel injection pump housing is installed.
6. Inspect the two O-ring seals on the bottom of the fuel injection pump housing for wear or damage and make a replacement if necessary. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the O-ring seals to hold them in place on the bottom of the fuel injection housing over the inlet and outlet dowels.7. Inspect O-ring seal (5) for wear or damage and make a replacement if necessary. Put clean engine oil on the seal.8. Fasten nylon strap (4) and a hoist on the fuel injection pump housing and governor as shown and put it in position on the engine.9. Install the bolts and the brackets that hold the fuel injection pump housing to the engine. Connect the overflow tube to the housing of the fuel transfer pump group.10. Install the retainer and the bolts that hold the automatic timing advance to the fuel injection pump camshaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 27 N m (20 lb.ft.) and then tighten them to a final torque of 136 7 N m (100 5 lb.ft.).11. Turn the crankshaft two complete revolutions and check the timing again to see that tool (B) will go into notch in camshaft with the bolt in flywheel. If the bolt can not be installed into the flywheel and tool (B) in the notch of the camshaft, see Install Automatic Timing Advance for the correct timing procedure. 12. Install the gasket and cover (6) on the automatic timing advance cover.13. Install bracket (7) on cover (6) and the fan guard. 14. Connect ether start tube (14) to the fuel injection pump housing.15. Connect bracket assembly (9) to the governor.16. Connect the mechanical shutoff group to lever assembly (13).17. Connect guide assembly (8) to the lever.18. Connect line (10) to the air-fuel ratio control.19. Connect the four fuel lines to fittings (11) and (12).END BY:a) install fuel injection lines
