Remove four bolts that hold it to the cylinder head. 5. Install tool (A) on the front of the cylinder head as shown. Fasten the fan drive to tool (A).6. Remove two bolts (3). Disconnect wire (2) for the water temperature sending unit. 7. Disconnect tube (5) from the cylinder head.8. Disconnect ground wire (4) from the cylinder head.9. Disconnect line (6) for the air fuel ratio control from the back of the cylinder head.10. Remove all of the bolts (7) that hold the cylinder head to the cylinder block. 11. Fasten a hoist to cylinder head (8) and remove it from the cylinder block. Weight of the cylinder head is 230 lb. (104.3 kg).12. Remove the old cylinder head gasket.Install Cylinder Head
1. Clean the machined surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block that make contact with the cylinder head gasket. 2. Put a new cylinder head gasket in position on the cylinder block. Make sure the holes in the cylinder head gasket are all in alignment with the holes in the cylinder block. Fasten a hoist to cylinder head (1) and put it in position on the cylinder block.3. Install the push rods. Put the rocker shaft in position on the cylinder head.
Make sure the dowels in the rocker shaft assembly are in alignment with the holes in the cylinder head before the bolts are installed and tightened.
4. Put 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the cylinder head bolts and rocker shaft bolts. Install the bolts and washers and tighten the bolts as follows: a) Tighten all the bolts in number sequence to a torque of 115 lb.ft. (155.9 N m).b) Tighten all bolts in number sequence to a torque of 175 5 lb.ft. (237.3 6.8 N m).c) Tighten all bolts in number sequence (hand turn only) to a torque of 175 5 lb.ft. (237.3 6.8 N m). The minimum amount of torque on these bolts after the engine is warm must be 150 lb.ft. (203.4 N m).d) Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 22 lb.ft. (29.8 N m).e) Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43.4 6.8 N m).f) Tighten all bolts in letter sequence (hand turn only) to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43.4 6.8 N m). The minimum amount of torque on these bolts must be 27 lb.ft. (36.6 N m) after the engine is warm.5. Make adjustments until the intake valve clearance is .015 in. (0.38 mm) and the exhaust valve clearance is .025 in. (0.64 mm). See VALVE LASH ADJUSTMENT in TESTING AND ADJUSTING Form No. REG01349.6. Connect the line from the fuel ratio control to the back of the cylinder head.7. Connect the ground wire to the cylinder head. Connect the tube from the air compressor to the cylinder head.8. Connect the wire for the water temperature sending unit.9. Install the two bolts in the front of the water pump.10. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive and remove if from tool (A). Remove tool (A) from the cylinder block. Install the fan drive.11. Install the air cleaner on the scraper engine.12. Make adjustments to the vee belts on the tractor engine and scraper engine. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.end by: a) install water temperature regulatorb) install exhaust manifold
