1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.2. Loosen clamps (1) and slide hose on tube. Disconnect air compressor line and hose (2) from the water pump. 3. Loosen clamp (3) on hose. 4. Loosen clamp (4) on lower hose and slide hose from water pump. 5. Remove bolts (5) and (6) and water pump (7) from engine. Remove the O-ring seal from the water pump.Install Water Pump
1. Be sure the O-ring seal (3) and the water pump elbow gasket (1) is in position on water pump (2). With the water pump in position install four bolts. 2. Put the lower hose (5) in position and install clamp (4). 3. Slide water pump hoses in position and tighten clamps (6) and (8).4. Connect line and hose (7) to the water pump.5. Fill the radiator with coolant to the correct level. See MAINTENANCE MANUAL.End By:a. install fan and fan driveDisassemble Water Pump
Start By:a. remove water pump 1. Remove elbow (1) and cover (2) from water pump. 2. Loosen bolt (3) 6.35 mm (.25 in.). Hit the bolt with a soft hammer to remove impeller (4) from the shaft. 3. Remove spring and seal assembly (5) from the shaft (6). 4. Turn the housing over and remove bolt and washer (7). Remove bearing (8) and gear (9) as a unit. 5. Use tool (A), tooling (C) and a press to remove bearing (8) from gear (9). 6. Remove snap ring (10) with tool (B). 7. Remove bearing (11) and shaft (6) as a unit. 8. Use tool (A) and a press to remove bearing (11) from the shaft. 9. Remove the ceramic ring and seal (12) from the housing. 10. Remove the lip seal (13) from the housing with tool (C).Assemble Water Pump
1. Install lip seal in water pump housing with tooling (A). The lip of the seal must be toward the bearings. Put clean SAE 30 engine oil on the lip of the seal. 2. Use a press to install shaft (6) in bearing (11). 3. Install the shaft (6) and bearing in the housing (14). 4. Install snap ring (10) in housing with tool (B). 5. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearing (8) on gear (9). 6. Put gear (9) and bearing in position on shaft and install bolt and washer.
Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assembly. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
7. Put the ceramic ring (12) in position in the rubber seal. Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the ceramic ring. 8. Remove spring from the seal assembly (15). Use hand pressure and tool (C) (which is with the replacement ring) to install the seal assembly. Push seal assembly on shaft until seal faces make light contact. 9. Install spring (3). Put impeller (4) in position and install washer and bolt. Tighten bolt to a torque of 39 1 N m (28 1 lb.ft.). 10. Put gaskets in position and install elbow (1) and cover (2).End By:a. install water pump
