1. Install the gasket and water pump (2) on housing (3).2. Install the gaskets, pipe (1) and tube assembly (4) on the water pump. 3. Install the gaskets, elbow (6) and tube assembly (5) on the water pump and temperature regulator housing.4. Install the hose (not shown) on elbow (6).5. Install coolant in the engine cooling system to the correct level. See the LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.Disassemble Water Pump
start by:a) remove water pump 1. Remove housing (1) and the strap from water pump body (2). 2. Loosen approximately 1/8 in. (3.18 mm) the bolt that holds impeller (3) on the shaft. Use tooling (A) to remove the impeller from the shaft. 3. Remove spring (4). 4. Loosen the bolt that holds gear (5) on the shaft approximately 1/8 in. (3.18 mm). Use tooling (B) to remove the gear from the shaft. 5. Remove retainer (6) from the body. Use tooling (C) to remove the bearing from the retainer. 6. Remove spacer (7) from the shaft.7. Turn the body over and put it on two blocks. Use a soft hammer to push the shaft out of the body. 8. Remove seal (8) and bearing (10) from shaft (9). 9. Remove ring (12) and seal (13) from adapter (11). Use tooling (C) to remove the adapter from the body. 10. Use tooling (C) to remove seal (14) from the body.Assemble Water Pump
1. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of the parts that are worn or damaged. 2. Use tooling (A) to install the seal as shown. Put clean engine oil on the lip of the seal.3. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the counterbore of the body and on the surface of adapter (1) that make contact with the body.
Use only clean water as a lubricant in the assembly of the parts of the water pump seal. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
4. Use tooling (A) to install adapter (1) in the body.5. Put ceramic ring (2) in position in rubber seal (3). Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the ceramic ring. 6. Install bearing (5) on shaft (4).7. Use tooling (A) to install the bearing in retainer (6).8. Put shaft (4) in position in the body. 9. Put spacer (7) in position on the shaft.10. Install retainer (6), the locks and the bolts on the body. 11. Remove spring (9) from carbon seal (8). Use hand pressure to install the carbon seal on the shaft until it makes light contact with the ceramic ring. Put the spring in position on the carbon seal. 12. Install impeller (10), the washer and the bolt on the shaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 34 3 lb.ft. (45 4 N m). 13. Install gear (11), the washer and the bolt on the shaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 150 20 lb.ft. (205 25 N m). 14. Put the O-ring seal in position on the housing. Install housing (12) on the strap on the body.end by:a) install water pump
