29250 Mercruiser NUT, CARBURETOR MOUNTING STUD

1. Remove glow plug head assembly (1) from the camshaft housing. 2. Remove fuel drain tubes (2) from connectors (3) (later type shown). Remove connectors (3) from the camshaft housing if necessary. 3. Remove fuel line adapters (4) from the camshaft housing. 4. Remove O-ring seals (5) from fuel line adapters (4). 5. Remove timing pin (6) and pointer (7) from the camshaft housing. 6. Remove thrust plate (8) that holds the camshafts in position. 7. Remove the bolts that hold camshaft gears (10) and (11) to the camshafts. Remove adapter (9) (left camshaft housing only). Remove camshaft gears (10) and (11) from the bottom of the camshaft housing. 8. Carefully remove intake camshaft (12) and exhaust camshaft (13) from the camshaft housing. 9. Turn the camshaft housing over. Remove bolts (14) and (15) that hold the rocker shafts in place. 10. Remove rocker shafts (18) and rocker arm assemblies (17).11. Remove guide pins (16) and plugs (19) from the camshaft housing if necessary. 12. Remove dowel (22), pin (20) and roller (21) from the rocker arm.13. Remove screw assemblies (25), plungers (24) and springs (23) from the rocker arm.Assemble Camshaft Housing
1. Make sure all parts of the camshaft housing are clean. Inspect all parts and make replacements if needed. 2. Install springs (6), plungers (7) and screw assemblies (8) in the rocker arms.3. Put roller (4) in position and slide pin (1) through the rocker arm and roller with notch (3) in alignment with hole (2) for dowel (5). Install dowel (5) so it is .06 in. (1.52 mm) below the surface. Move the metal (stake) in one location. 4. Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the threads and install plugs (10).5. Install guide pins (11). Install the guide pins 1.22 in. (30.99 mm) from the surface of the camshaft housing that makes contact with the cylinder head.6. Put rocker arm assemblies (9) in position and slide rocker shafts (12) through the camshaft housing and rocker assemblies. 7. Slide rocker shafts (12) in until notch (14) of the rocker shafts is in alignment with the holes for bolts (13). Install the locks and bolts (13) that hold the rocker shafts in place. 8. Turn the camshaft over. The camshaft with identification "LH-IN" is the intake camshaft for the left camshaft housing. The camshaft with identification "RH-IN" is the intake camshaft for the right camshaft housing. The intake camshaft also has the hole for the timing pin. The camshaft with identification "EX" is the exhaust camshaft. Carefully install intake camshaft (15) and exhaust camshaft (16) in the camshaft housing. 9. Put thick gear (17) in position on the intake camshaft and install adapter (19) (left camshaft housing only) and the bolts. Put thin gear (18) in position on the exhaust camshaft. Make sure the "V" mark on the thick gear is in alignment with the "V" mark on the thin gear. Install the lock and bolts that hold the thin gear to the exhaust camshaft. 10. Install pointer (21). The pointer must be in alignment with the mark on the thin gear. Install timing pin (20). Make sure the timing pin is through the camshaft housing and into the camshaft. With the timing pin installed, all timing marks must be in alignment with each other. 11. Install thrust plate (22) that holds the camshafts in place in the camshaft housing. 12. Install O-ring seals (24) on fuel line adapters (23). Put clean oil on the O-ring seals. 13. Install fuel line adapters (25) in the camshaft housing. 14. Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on connectors (27). Install the connectors and connect fuel drain tubes (26) to the connectors. If the terminal for the glow plug lead assembly was removed from the camshaft housing, install the terminal. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 30 5 lb.in. (3.4 0.6 N m). 15. Install glow plug lead assembly (28) on the camshaft housing. end by:a) install camshaft housing
