start by: a) remove vibration damperb) remove fuel tank (12G & 140G) These photographs were taken on the 14G. All pictures are typical for the 12G and the 140G. 1. Remove clips (2) and (9) that hold hose (1) for oil pressure. Disconnect hose (1) from the engine block.2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Release the pressure from the air tank. Turn the valve for fuel supply on the fuel tank to the "OFF" position.3. Remove the hose clamps that hold the hoses on each end of tube (3). Remove the bolt that holds the clamp and tube (3) to the fuel tank. Remove tube (3). Disconnect line (4) for water temperature. Disconnect wire (5) from the coolant flow switch. 4. Remove the plug from the bottom of elbow (8) and drain the coolant from the elbow. Put the plug back in position in the elbow. Remove the hose clamps and the hoses from each end of the elbow. Remove elbow (8). Remove the hose from tube (7).5. Disconnect air supply line (6) from the air compressor. Disconnect air line (10) from the air compressor governor. Disconnect wires (12) from the switch and the block. Disconnect the wires to the glow plugs.6. Disconnect air supply line (6) from the relay valve. Remove the bolt that holds the line to the transmission cooler and remove line (6). Disconnect air line (14) from the relay valve. Remove the relay valve (13) from the frame. Put it in position on the bevel gear case. Disconnect oil lines (11) for the transmission oil cooler. Remove the bolt that holds tube (7) to the flywheel housing. 7. Remove the cotter pin and the pin that hold rod (15) to lever (16). Remove bolts (18) and housing (19) from the engine block. Disconnect fuel pressure line (17). Remove the clip that holds the engine oil drain line to the bevel gear case. 8. Disconnect fuel supply line (21) from the fuel filter. Disconnect wires (22) from the starter solenoid. Disconnect air line (25) from the relay valve. Remove relay valve (24) and put it in position on the bevel gear case. 9. Fasten a hoist to tool (A). Fasten tool (A) to the lifting eyes in the cylinder head. Remove bolts (20) that hold the engine front support to the frame.10. Remove bolts (23) that hold the flywheel housing to the transmission flange.11. Lift the engine and move it forward enough to remove tube (7). Remove engine (26). Weight is 2150 lb. (960 kg). Remove the shims from under the front support. Keep the shims that are between the engine front support and the frame in their correct relationship with the engine front support for use during installation.Install Engine (14G, 12G & 140G)
1. Fasten a hoist to tool (A). Fasten tool (A) to the lifting eyes in the cylinder head of the engine. Lift the engine and put it in position in the machine. When the engine is being installed in the machine, the tube for radiator outlet and water pump inlet must be put in position. 2. Move the engine back toward the transmission until the flywheel and the coupling in the transmission are in engagement. Install and tighten two of the bolts in the top of the transmission flange (2) that hold flywheel housing (1) to transmission flange (2). Install the original amount of shims (4) in their correct locations under the engine front support (3).3. Remove the hoist and tool (A). Install the bolts that hold the engine front support to the frame but do not tighten them. The bolts are used for alignment only at this time.4. Measure the gap between transmission flange (2) and flywheel housing (1) at the bottom of the housing and flange with a feeler gauge.5. Add or remove shims (4) to get a gap of .003 to .005 in. (0.076 to 0.127 mm) between the housing and the flange.6. Install the remainder of the bolts and washers that hold the transmission flange to the flywheel housing. Tighten the bolts that hold the engine front support to the frame. The gap will be even when these bolts are tightened. 7. Connect fuel line (5) to the fuel filter.8. Connect the cables and wires (6) to the starter solenoid.9. Install relay valve (7) on the frame on each side of the machine. Connect air lines (8) to the relay valves. 10. Connect fuel pressure line (12) to the fuel injection pump housing.11. Put housing (10) in position on the engine block. Install bolts (11) that hold it.12. Put rod (9) in position on the lever for governor control. Install the pin that holds the rod to the lever. Install the cotter pin in the pin. 13. Connect air supply line (15) from the compressor to the relay valve.14. Connect transmission oil cooler lines (13) to their correct locations on the transmission oil cooler.15. Install wires (16) to the switch and the block. Connect the wires to the glow plug harness.16. Install the bolt that holds the clamp and tube (14) to the flywheel housing. 17. Put elbow (22) in position on tube (14) and on the water pump. Tighten the hose clamps and install the bolt that holds it.18. Connect the oil pressure line to the engine. Install clips (19) and the bolts that hold them. Connect air lines (15) and (21) to the air compressor and air compressor governor. Install line (18) for the water temperature sensor and wire (20) for the coolant flow switch. Put the tube for coolant return in position between the radiator and the water temperature regulator. Install the hoses and tighten clamps (17) that hold them. Install the bolt that holds the clamp to the fuel tank. Fill the cooling system with coolant.end by: a) install vibration damperb) install fuel tank (12G & 140G)
