Raise the Hood. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hood Control".
Remove the crankcase guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guard - Remove and Install".
Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
Drain the transmission and torque converter oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Torque Converter and Transmission Oil - Change".
Remove the turbocharger guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove and Install".
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Cut the cable strap and disconnect electrical connector (1). Remove bolt (2), the two washers and the nut in order to remove the wiring clip. Remove bolt (3), the two washers and the nut in order to remove the wiring clip.

Remove four bolts (4) and the four washers in order to disconnect tube (7) from the transmission. Remove three bolts (5), the nut and the four washers in order to disconnect tube (7) from the transmission oil cooler. Remove clamp (6) in order to separate tube (7) and remove the tube from the machine. Remove block (8) from the oil cooler.

Use a suitable tool in order to remove stud (9) from the oil cooler.

Remove clamp (10) in order to separate tube (11). Remove bolt (12) and the washer in order to remove the clip from the oil cooler. Remove four bolts (13), and the four washers in order to disconnect the tube from the transmission. Remove the lower half of the tube from the machine.

Remove bolt (14) in order to disconnect oil drain adapter (15) for the engine from the oil cooler. Move the hose aside.

Loosen the nut in order to slacken clamp (16) and disconnect exhaust pipe (17) from the turbocharger.

Loosen two bolts (18) in order to slacken the clamp and remove exhaust pipe (17) from the machine.
