Diagnostic Codes Table
CDL Code and Description Comments
1446-5
Fuel Metering Module : Current Below Normal The fuel metering valve has detected an excessive current in the circuit for the Pulse Width Modulated signal (PWM signal). The problem was reported to the Electronic Control Module (ECM) over the CAN data link.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated.
1446-8
Fuel Metering Module : Abnormal Frequency, Pulse Width, or Period The fuel metering valve has detected an error in the PWM signal that is from the ECM.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated.
1446-9
Fuel Metering Module : Abnormal Update Rate The ECM has not received the last ten messages that were expected from the fuel metering valve over the CAN data link.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated.
1446-12
Fuel Metering Module : Failure After the ECM has been powered for 5 seconds, the fuel metering valve has reported that an internal fault has occurred .
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
1446-13
Fuel Metering Module : Calibration Required After the ECM has been powered for 5 seconds, the fuel metering valve has reported that a calibration is necessary for the valve.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated.
1447-12
Fuel Metering Sensor Module : Failure The fuel metering valve has detected an internal failure of the sensor module. The problem was reported to the ECM over the CAN data link.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
1835-3
Auxiliary Pressure Sensor : Voltage Above Normal The change in pressure across the metering valve is higher than allowed.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
1835-4
Auxiliary Pressure Sensor : Voltage Below Normal The change in pressure across the metering valve is lower than allowed.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
1835-12
Auxiliary Pressure Sensor : Failure The fuel metering valve has detected an error at the internal pressure sensors.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
1836-12
Auxiliary Temperature Sensor : Failure The fuel metering valve has detected an error at the internal temperature sensors.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. The shutdown output is activated. The engine is shut down.
6367-5
Fuel Metering Module #1 : Current Below Normal The fuel metering valve has detected an excessive current in the circuit for the Pulse Width Modulated signal (PWM signal). The problem was reported to the Electronic Control Module (ECM) over the CAN data link.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated.
6368-5
Fuel Metering Module #2 : Current Below Normal The fuel metering valve has detected an excessive current in the circuit for the Pulse Width Modulated signal (PWM signal). The problem was reported to the Electronic Control Module (ECM) over the CAN data link.
The code is logged. The alarm output is activated. If the ECM and the fuel metering valve cannot communicate via the CAN data link, a 1446-9 diagnostic code is activated. If the engine is running, the fuel metering valve will use the command signal from the PWM signal. The engine will continue to run. However, if the engine is not running and a 1446-9 diagnostic code becomes active, the ECM will not allow the engine to start.PWM SignalThe ECM sends the command signal for the fuel flow via a PWM signal. If the PWM signal for the flow of fuel is interrupted, a 1446-8 diagnostic code will be activated. The fuel metering valve will use the command signal for the fuel flow via the CAN data link.Pressure CodesCycle the battery power and ensure that the GSOV is operating properly. If the code remains and fuel is not present at the fuel metering valve, replace the fuel metering valve.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Value Results
1. Inspect the Electrical Connectors and the Wiring
A. Set the engine control switch to the OFF/RESET position. Remove the electrical power from the engine.
B. Inspect the harness connectors for fuel metering valve (1).
C. Inspect the condition of connectors (2), (3), (4), (5), and (6).
D. Check fuse (7) to ensure proper functionality.
E. Ensure that the power connections that are for the terminal strip in the engine junction box are tight and free of corrosion. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
F. Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires in the circuit for the fuel metering valve shown in the
