Information:
1. Use a 3/4" breaker bar and relieve the tension on the V-belts for the fan drive and remove them from pulley (1).2. Remove the tension from the A/C compressor V-belt. Remove the A/C compressor V-belt from pulley (1). Refer to the topic Air Conditioning Compressor in this module for further information.3. Remove three bolts (2) that fasten pulley (1) to wedge bracket (3). 4. Install bolts (2) (removed in Step 3) in the threaded holes in pulley (1). Turn bolts (2) evenly until pulley (1) can be removed from wedge bracket (3).5. Mark the location of wedge bracket (3) on stub shaft (4) for assembly. It is necessary to install the wedge bracket in the same position to get correct alignment of the V-belts.6. Loosen the setscrew at location (X) and remove wedge bracket (3) and key (5) from stub shaft (4).
Typical Example7. Remove two of bolts (6) and install two 1" - 14NF guide bolts.8. Remove the remainder of bolts (6) and remove stub shaft (4) from vibration damper (7). For assembly purposes, the torque for bolts (6) is 1150 150 N m (850 110 lb ft).
Typical Example9. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist. Remove vibration damper (7) from the crankshaft. The weight of the vibration damper is 86 kg (190 lb.). 10. Remove bolts (9) and remove vibration damper (7) from adapter (8). For assembly purposes, the torque for bolts (9) is 105 20 N m (75 lb ft). The following steps are for installation of the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper. 11. Inspect the vibration damper for signs of leakage or a dented (damaged) housing (10). Either condition can cause metal ring (11) to make contact with housing (10) and effect damper operation.12. Install the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper in the reverse order of removal. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on the threads of bolts (6) before installing bolts (6).13. Be sure to align the dash mark on damper adapter (8) with the dash mark on the crankshaft.14. Be sure to align the dash mark on stub shaft (4) with the dash mark on damper adapter (8).15. Be sure to install wedge adapter (3) and key (5) in the original location to assure correct alignment of the V-belts and tighten the setscrew at location (X).16. Tighten bolts (2) evenly to a torque of 45 7 N m (32 5 lb. ft.).17. Repeat Step 16 until the torque does not change.Remove & Install Crankshaft Pulley & Vibration Damper (3516)
Typical Example1. Use a 3/4" breaker bar and relieve the tension on the V-belts for the fan drive and remove them from pulley (1).2. Remove the tension from the A/C compressor V-belt and remove it from pulley (1). See the topic "Remove & Install Air Conditioning Compressor in this Module for further information.3. Remove three bolts (2) that fasten pulley (1) to wedge bracket (3).
Typical Example4. Install bolts (2), (removed in Step 3), in the threaded holes in pulley (1). Turn bolts (2) evenly until pulley (1) can be removed from wedge bracket (3).5. Mark the location of wedge bracket (3) on stub shaft (4) for assembly. It is necessary to install the wedge bracket in the same position to get correct alignment of the V-belts.6. Loosen the setscrew at location (X) and remove wedge bracket (3) and key (5) from stub shaft (4).7. Remove three bolts (6) and install three 3/8" - 16 guide bolts.8. Remove the remainder of bolts (6) and use a nylon strap and a hoist to remove damper assembly (7). The weight of damper assembly is 26 kg (57 lbs.).
Typical Example9. Remove two of bolts (9) and install two 1" - 14 NF guide bolts.10. Remove the remainder of bolts (9) and remove stub shaft (4) from vibration damper (8). 11. Install tooling (A) and a hoist on vibration damper (8). Remove vibration damper (8) and adapter (10). The weight of the damper and adapter is 114 kg (250 lbs.).12. Remove bolts (11) and remove vibration damper (8) from adapter (10). The weight of vibration damper is 80 kg (176 lbs.). The weight of the adapter is 34 kg (75 lb). The following steps are for installation of the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper. 13. Inspect the vibration damper for signs of leakage or a dented (damaged) housing (12). Either condition can cause metal ring (13) to make contact with housing (12) and effect damper operation.14. Install the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper in the reverse order of removal.15. Be sure to align the dash mark on damper adapter (10) with the dash mark on the crankshaft.16. Be sure to align the dash mark on stub shaft (4) with the dash mark on damper adapter (10).17. Be sure to install wedge bracket (3) and key (5) in the original location to assure correct alignment of the V-belts and tighten the setscrew at location (X).18. Install pulley (1) so that the front surface of the pulley is 1.6 3.0 mm (.063 .118 in) in front of the surface of the fan drive pulley.19. Tighten bolts (2) evenly to a torque of 25 7 N m (18 5 lb ft).20. Repeat Step 16 until the torque does not change.21. See the topic, "Belt Tension Chart" in the Systems Operations/Testing & Adjusting manual for further information.
