Note: The Cat Alarm and Protection System is package-mounted for shipment. During final installation, the Cat Alarm and Protection System must be remote-mounted by the customer to maintain approval by the MCS (Marine Classification Society). Films for the package-mounted system lifting eyes with instructions on removing and lifting the system will be provided.Note: During standard maintenance activities (normal startup), ensure that the Emergency Shutdown override switch is in the OFF position. The Cat Marine Power Display is an attachment that is available from your Cat dealer. The Cat Marine Power Display will supply the current engine data. The Cat Marine Power Display will supply the current data for the transmission. The screens can be customized. The screens can display various engine parameters. The parameters are described in the following text.Reference: See Special Instruction, REHS5545 for additional information concerning the remote mounting of the instrumentation panel.Emergency Stop Switch (3)
Use the emergency stop switch ONLY in an emergency situation. DO NOT use the emergency stop switch for normal engine stopping. After an emergency stop, DO NOT start the engine until the problem that caused the emergency stop has been corrected.Local throttle (4)
Engine speed is controlled with a potentiometer on the panel, if equipped. The throttle becomes active when the switch is placed in Local mode.Local/Remote Switch (5)
This switch allows the engine to be controlled remotely. This switch also allows the engine to be controlled from a potentiometer on the panel, if equipped.Engine Control Switch (ECS) (6)
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Starting the Engine" for detailed information about starting the engine with the engine control switch. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Stopping" for detailed information about stopping the engine with the engine control switch.
When the engine is in the AUTOMATIC mode, the engine can start at any moment. To avoid personal injury, always remain clear of the the engine when the engine is in the AUTOMATIC mode.
To start the engine, turn the engine control switch to the "START" position. Do not start the engine or move any of the controls if there is a "DO NOT OPERATE" warning tag or a similar warning tag attached to the start switch or to the controls. Ensure that no one will be endangered before the engine is started and when the engine is started.To stop the engine, turn the engine control switch to the "STOP" position.When the engine control switch is turned to the "OFF" position, power is removed from the ECM and the instrument panel.Operating Information
There are three modes of display for the engine data: Analog, digital, and bargraph.The following parameters are displayed:

All diagnostic messages from the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM) are indicated by both a visual alarm and an audible alarm. Diagnostic indicators will not be shown when there are no active diagnostic codes. The diagnostic indicator will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. A window that describes the diagnostic code will appear in the center of the screen, and the audible alarm will sound. Press "alarm acknowledgment" key (1) to silence the alarm. Press "alarm acknowledgment" key (1) again to scroll through the diagnostic codes or remove the diagnostic codes. The diagnostic code indicator will remain on the screen until the fault is corrected.Note: The loss of signal to the display will result in a Diagnostic Code with the description “"NO DATA LINK SIGNAL"”.Configuration and Operation of the Power display
The Cat Marine Power Display can be programmed for three users with five screens for each user. Three users can set up the Cat Marine Power Display for the preferences of each user.The buttons have multiple functions that depending on the screen that is displayed.Reference: See Operator Manual, LEBM0189, "Marine Power Display" for the functions of the buttons."System Information" Screen
When power is first applied, scroll through the screens until the "System Information" screen is shown. This screen allows the following parameters to be configured: "User Name", "Unit Location", "Display Units", and "Vessel Speed". A menu driven screen is located in the upper right corner of the Marine Power Display screen. Press "alarm acknowledgement"key (1) to display the functions of the buttons.Reference: See Operator Manual, LEBM0189, "Marine Power Display" to configure the parameters.Gauge Screens
The gauge screens can be configured with three different sizes of three types of gauges. Each user can configure the screens to display the engine data according to individual preferences. Each user can configure the screens to display the engine data in the following formats: analog, digital, and bargraph.Note: Consult your Cat Dealer to customize the screens of the Cat Marine Power Display.
