2. Lift the hoods and fasten them in position with the hood locks. Remove five bolts (1) and the washers. Remove guard assembly (2). 3. Remove socket head bolt (6) that holds two wire connectors (3) and (5) together. Disconnect wire connectors (3) and (5).4. Remove ground wire (7) from bracket (4).5. Remove the two bolts and the washers that hold bracket (4) to the aftercooler. Set wire connectors (3) and (5) aside out of the way. 6. Remove ether starting aid tube (9) from the aftercooler.7. Remove bolt (11), the washers and the nut. Cut tie straps (8).8. Remove tube assembly (10) from the machine.9. Disconnect hose assembly (13) from the unit injector hydraulic pump. Cap and plug all openings immediately.10. Move hose assemblies (12) and (13) out of the way. The aftercooler has been removed for photographic reasons.11. Disconnect two fuel hose assemblies (14) from the fuel transfer pump.12. Mark the locations of and remove two tubes (15) from the unit injector hydraulic pump. Cap and plug all openings immediately. 13. Cut tie straps (16) and (17). 14. Disconnect rail pressure control valve (18) at the electrical connection.15. Mark oil temperature sensor connector (19) for identification purposes. Disconnect oil temperature sensor (19) and oil pressure sensor connector (20). 16. Remove three bolts (21) and the washers. 17. Attach a lifting sling and a suitable lifting device to unit injector hydraulic pump (22) as shown. 18. Remove two bolts (23) and the washers. Remove unit injector hydraulic pump (22). Remove the O-ring seals. The weight of the the unit injector hydraulic pump is 30 kg (65 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the unit injector hydraulic pump.19. Check all O-ring seals for wear or damage and replace with new parts if necessary. Apply a light coat of clean engine oil to all O-ring seals prior to installation. 20. Attach a lifting sling an a suitable lifting device to unit injector hydraulic pump (22). Place unit injector hydraulic pump (22) in its original location. 21. Install two bolts (23) and the washers. 22. Install three bolts (21). 23. Connect rail pressure control valve (18) at the electrical connector.24. Connect oil pressure sensor connector (20) and oil temperature sensor connector (19). 25. Install two tie straps (16) and (17) holding the electrical wires to the side of the valve cover. 26. Connect two tubes (15) according to the alignment marks made during disassembly.27. Connect two fuel hose assemblies (14). 28. Install ether starting aid tube (9).29. Connect hose assembly (13).30. Connect tube assembly (10).31. Install bolt (11), the washers, the clamp and the nut.32. Install tie straps (8) holding hose (12) to hose (13). 33. Install the two bolts and the washers that hold bracket (4) to the aftercooler.34. Install ground wire (7) on bracket (4).35. Install socket head bolt (6) that holds two wire connectors (3) and (5) together. 36. Place guard assembly (2) in position. Install five bolts (1) and the washers.37. Turn the fuel supply valve, located on the fuel tank, to the "On" position.38. Prime the fuel system.
