Information:

1. Disconnect universal joint (2) at the power take-off housing.2. Remove hydraulic pump lines (3).3. Remove two nuts and remove hydraulic pump (1). 4. Remove bolts (4) and cover (5). 5. Remove gears (6) from power take-off housing. 6. Bend lock (9) back and remove three bolts (8).7. Remove bolts (7) from housing. 8. Remove the bolt that holds the power take-off housing support (11). Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the power take-off housing.9. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws (10) and remove the power take-off housing. Weight of the housing is 160 lb. (72.6 kg). 10. Remove thrust washer (14) from the housing.11. Disconnect transmission oil pump line (16).12. Remove bolts (15), then remove adapter housing (12). Remove gear (13). 13. Bend the locks back and loosen bolts (20) that hold thrust washer (18) and cage assembly (17) to the adapter housing. Slide the shaft out of the cage assembly while the bolts are loosened.14. Remove bolts (20), gear (19), thrust washer (18) and cage assembly (17). 15. Remove bolts (22) and locks.16. Remove gear (19) from shaft (21). 17. Remove two bearings (23) from the cage assembly.Install Power Take-Off Drive
1. Install the two bearings in the cage assembly with tooling (A). Install the bearings until they are even with the outside surface of the cage assembly. 2. Put gear (1) in position on shaft (2). Install the bolts and locks that hold them together. 3. Put cage assembly (5) in position in adapter housing (6) as shown.4. Install bolts (7) and locks in thrust washer (4). Put the thrust washer in the groove on the shaft as shown. Slide shaft (3) through the cage assembly and into the adapter housing.5. Install the bolts in the correct holes in the adapter housing and tighten them. 6. Install adapter housing (6) on the flywheel housing with the bolts that hold it.7. Fasten tool (B) and a hoist to power take-off housing (8). Install thrust washer (9) on dowels in housing. Put the power take-off housing in position on the adapter housing and install the bolts that hold it. 8. Install the two gears (10) and (11) in the power take-off housing.9. Install the bolt that holds the power take-off housing to support (12). 10. Install the cover (14) for the power take-off housing and the bolts (13) that hold it. 11. Install hydraulic pump (16) on power take-off housing with the nuts that hold it. Install hydraulic pump lines (17).12. Connect universal joint (15) to power take-off housing with the bolts that hold it. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 40 5 lb.ft. (54.2 6.8 N m).end by:a) install center frame **This operation is in the PIPELAYER PORTION DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY SECTION.Disassemble Power Take-Off Drive
start by:a) remove power take-off drive 1. Remove hydraulic pump drive bearing from cover with tooling (B) and a press.2. Remove power take-off drive bearing (1) from cover with tooling (B) and a press. 3. Remove hydraulic pump drive bearing (3) and power take-off drive bearing (2) with tooling (A). 4. Remove five nuts from cover (5). Install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws (4) and remove cover. Remove O-ring seal from cover. 5. Remove retainer ring (6) from bearing in cover (5). 6. Put cover in a vise and remove bearing (7) with tooling (A). 7. Turn the power take-off housing over. Bend lock (12) back and remove two bolts (13), washer (9) and universal joint flange (11).8. Remove bolts (10) and remove retainer (8). Remove O-ring seal from retainer. 9. Remove seal (14) from retainer. 10. Remove plate (15) from shaft. 11. Bend lock (17) back and remove two bolts (16) and washers (18). 12. Install tooling (D) on shaft and push shaft down enough to make it free of the gear. Remove sleeve (19) from gear. 13. Remove ring (20) from gear. 14. Remove gear (21) from power take-off housing. 15. Remove inner race (22) from bearing in housing. 16. Remove bearing from power take-off housing with tooling (C). 17. Remove bearing (23) from housing with a hammer and punch.Assemble Power Take-Off Drive
1. Lower the temperature of the bearing and install it in the housing with tooling (A). 2. Turn the power take-off housing over. Lower the temperature of the bearing and install it in the housing with tooling (B). 3. Install inner race (1) in bearing. 4. Install shaft (3). Install gear (2) on shaft. 5. Install ring (4) on gear. 6. Install sleeve (5), washer (7), lock (6) and two bolts (8). Bend the lock back. 7. Lower the temperature of the bearing and install it in cover (9) with tooling (A) and a press. 8. Put a new O-ring seal (10) on cover (9). Install snap ring (11) on bearing. Install cover (9) on studs with the five nuts that hold it. 9. Install plate (12) on shaft. 10. Install seal in retainer (13) with tooling (A). Install the seal with the lip toward the inside of the cover. Put a new O-ring seal on the retainer. 11. Install retainer (13) on power take-off housing with the bolts (17) that hold it.12. Install universal joint flange (18) on shaft.13. Install washer (15), two bolts (16) and lock (14) on shaft. Bend lock (14) over bolts (16). 14. Lower the temperature of the hydraulic pump drive bearing and the power take-off drive bearing. Install them in the power take-off housing with tooling (A). 15. Lower the temperature of the hydraulic pump drive bearing and power take-off drive bearing that have a location in cover. Install the bearings in the cover with tooling (A).end by:a) install power take-off drive
