Connect DDT (3) to cable (2) .The other connector on cable (2) is not used. When the system has power, the DDT will establish communication with the EIS control module. If this does not occur, refer to the engine's Electronic Troubleshooting manual.Programming the Electronic Ignition System
For information on the programmable parameters, refer to Systems Operation, "Electronic Control System Parameters".Use Cat ET or the DDT to program the parameters. The description of the parameter depends on the electronic service tool that is used. The parameters are listed in Table 3. Record the values for the parameters.

"Desired Engine Ignition Timing" or "DES ENG TIMING"
For the desired engine timing, obtain an analysis of the fuel. Enter the data from the fuel analysis into the Caterpillar Software Program, LEKQ6378, "Methane Number Program". Program the value for the desired timing according to the recommendations in Engine Performance, LEBQ6484, "Fuel Usage Guide"."Speed Timing Map" or "SPEED TIMING MAP"
Program this parameter to the full load rpm that is printed on the engine's Information Plate."Engine Load Timing Map" or "LOAD TIMING MAP"
For normal operation, the recommended value for this parameter is "00"."Engine Configuration" or "ENGINE TYPE"
Program this parameter to the engine model that is printed on the engine's Serial Number Plate."Number of Detonation Sensors" or "DET SENSORS"
This parameter must be programmed in order for the electronic ignition system to provide protection from detonation. The engine has two detonation sensors. Make sure that the value for this parameter is programmed to "2"."Engine Compression Rati
