Information:
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen bolts (2) and remove cover (1) .
Drain the engine oil from the engine oil pan into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Disconnect tube assembly (4) .
Remove bolts (3) and (5) .
Remove engine oil pan (6) and gasket (7) .
If necessary, remove nut (8) , the seal, and the tube assembly from the engine oil pan.
If necessary, remove plug (9) and the O-ring seal.Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean the flange face of the engine oil pan (6) and the flange face of the cylinder block.

When the gasket for the oil pan is removed, damage may occur to the existing seal in the groove of the bridge. If the seal is damaged, apply a sufficient amount of Tooling (B) in order to fill the groove. The groove must be completely filled.
Apply Tooling (B) to the joint between the cylinder block and the front housing.

Install Tooling (A) in the cylinder block in Holes (X) .Note: New bolts have sealant on the first 13 mm (0.5 inch) of the threads. In order to reuse the old bolts, clean the old sealant from the bolts and apply Tooling (C) to the bolts.Note: Ensure that the engine oil pan is properly supported while the engine oil pan (6) is installed onto the cylinder block.
Position a new gasket (7) and the engine oil pan (6) on the cylinder block. Install bolts (3) and (5) in order to secure the engine oil pan to the cylinder block. Tighten the bolts finger tight.
Remove the Tooling (A) and install the remaining bolts (3) and (5) . Tighten the bolts (3) in Hole (Y) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Tighten the remaining setscrews (3) and (5) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Inspect the O-ring seal for the drain plug (9) . Replace the O-ring if it is necessary. Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (9) . Tighten the drain plug to a torque of 34 N m (25 lb ft).
Connect tube assembly (4) .
Add the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Position cover (1) and tighten bolts (2) .
