Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Install" for the procedure to install the hinged guard assemblies. Fully read this procedure and fully understand this procedure before proceeding.Note: Use caution around potential pinch points. Be alert for possible movement of the guard assemblies.Note: Do not place any part of your body under the guard assemblies unless the mounting hardware is installed.Note: Inspect the suitable lifting devices and all suitable restraining devices prior to installation for proper condition and proper operation.Note: Ensure that suitable restraining devices are secured to the machine such that the added weight of dirt and debris will not cause interference, or inadvertent movement.
Illustration 1 g06238941Note: Refer to the arrows in Illustration 1 for the approximate location for attaching the suitable restraining device to the machine. The restraining device must be centered front to back on the guard assemblies.

Attach a suitable restraining device (X) to the side of the machine on the hinged side of the guard assembly. Attach Tooling (B) or a suitable alternative to guard assembly (2) using the centering device bolt hole locations (9) shown in Illustration 3. The restraining device should be kept centered on guard assembly (2) using Tooling (B). Attach Tooling (A) or a suitable lifting device to the opposite side of the machine. Acceptable attachment locations include the track or the bulldozer push arm. An external hoist is an acceptable alternative to Tooling (A), and care must be taken to avoid damaging the tooling or the machine. If Tooling (C) was used to open guard assembly (2), remove Tooling (C). Use Tooling (A) to raise guard assembly (2) until both sides of guard assembly (2) are tight against the frame of the machine. Guard assembly (2) will pivot on hinge assemblies (8). Ensure that mounting hardware (5), shown in Illustration 3, penetrates the holes in guard assembly (2).
