Information:
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 106 liters (28 U.S. gal).2. Release the pressure in the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic tank. Drain the hydraulic oil from the tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic tank is 220 liters (58 U.S. gal).
Hot engine oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot engine oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.
3. Remove two bolts (1) and the washers that hold tube assembly (4) to engine oil cooler inlet body (3). Drain the oil from the engine oil cooler in a suitable container for storage or disposal. Position tube assembly (4) so that gasket (2) (not shown) can be removed.4. After the engine oil cooler has drained completely, clean the mating surfaces of tube assembly (4), and install a new gasket (2). Reinstall two bolts (1) and the washers that hold tube assembly (4) to engine oil cooler inlet body (3). 5. Mark and identify 12 bolts (6) for installation purposes. Remove 12 bolts (6) that hold bonnet (7) to the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic oil cooler and the engine.6. Remove bracket (5) and clip (10), that hold the fumes disposal tube in position on bonnet (7). A small amount of oil and coolant from the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic oil cooler, and the engine oil cooler will drain out of the coolers at this time. Position a suitable container under the oil coolers to contain the oil and the coolant for disposal.7. Remove bonnet (7) with O-ring seal (9) (not shown) and two gaskets (8) and (11) (not shown) from the engine oil cooler and the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic oil cooler. The coolant conditioner filter has been removed for photographic reasons.8. Mark and identify four bolts (14) for installation purposes. Remove four bolts (14) that hold engine oil cooler (13) to engine oil cooler inlet body (3).9. Remove engine oil cooler (13) from the cooler inlet bonnet. Remove two O-ring seals (12) (not shown) from engine oil cooler inlet body (3). 10. Remove adapter (15) from engine oil cooler (13).11. Remove two O-ring seals (16) from adapter (15). The following steps are for the installation of the engine oil cooler. 12. Carefully clean the tube bundles in engine oil cooler (13) with a 3.2 mm (.125 in) diameter rod. 13. Lubricate bore and new O-ring seals (16) lightly with glycerin, and install two O-ring seals (16) on adapter (15). Install adapter (15) in engine oil cooler (13). 14. Install two new seals (12) (not shown) in engine oil cooler inlet body (3). Put engine oil cooler (13) in position in the cooler inlet bonnet.15. Install four bolts (14) that hold engine oil cooler (13) to engine oil cooler inlet body (3). 16. Lubricate bore and new O-ring seal (9) lightly with glycerin and install O-ring seal (9) on bonnet (7). Put two new gaskets (8) and (11) on bonnet (7). 17. Put bonnet (7) in position in the engine oil cooler and on the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic oil cooler and install six bolts (6) that hold bonnet (7) and bracket (5) to the engine.18. Install the remaining six bolts (6) that hold bonnet (7) and clip (10) to the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic oil cooler and tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb ft). Refer to the topic "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" in the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic system, the cooling system and the engine crankcase oil.
