Table 1
Diagnostic Codes Table
Code and Description Conditions which Generate this Code System Response
286-5 EMS Oil Lamp open/short to ground The Electronic Control Module (ECM) for the Engine detects an open circuit for the low engine oil pressure lamp.
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the low engine oil pressure lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
286-6 EMS Oil Lamp short to +batt The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the low engine oil pressure lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
324-5 Warning Lamp open/short to ground The Engine ECM detects an open circuit for the action lamp.
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the action lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
324-6 Warning Lamp short to ground The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the action lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
548-5 Throttle Lock Lamp : Current Below Normal The Engine ECM detects an open circuit for the throttle lock lamp.
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the throttle lock lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
548-6 Throttle Lock Lamp : Current Above Normal The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the throttle lock lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
2756-5 Engine System Warning Indicator : Current Below Normal The Engine ECM detects an open circuit for the check engine lamp.
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the check engine lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
2756-6 Engine System Warning Indicator : Current Above Normal The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the check engine lamp.
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
2757-5 Transmission System Warning Indicator : Current Below Normal The Engine ECM detects an open circuit for the "check transmission lamp".
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the "check transmission lamp".
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
2757-6 Transmission System Warning Indicator : Current Above Normal The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the "check transmission lamp".

2869-5 System Air Pressure Indicator : Current Below Normal The Engine ECM detects an open circuit for the "brake air pressure lamp".
The ECM detects a short to battery voltage for the "brake air pressure lamp".
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is not activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second.
2869-6 System Air Pressure Indicator : Current Above Normal The Engine ECM detects a short circuit for the "brake air pressure lamp".
The ECM can only detect this condition when the output driver is activated. The code is logged.
The ECM will illuminate the check engine lamp. The ECM will pulse the action lamp and the action alarm at a rate of .5 Hz per second. The indicator lamps will be energized for 3 seconds for a start-up test whenever the keyswitch is turned from the OFF position to the ON position. The ECM provides a high side output driver for the following lamps:
Action lamp
"Brake air pressure lamp"
Low engine oil pressure lampThe ECM provides a low side output driver for the following lamps:
Check engine lamp
"Check transmission lamp"
Throttle lock lampThe most likely cause of a problem with the lamp circuits is a burned out lamp. The next most likely cause is a problem with a wire or with a connector. The least likely cause is a problem with the ECM.
