Information:


At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Clean the outside of the radiator before you begin this procedure.Note: Mark all radiator cores and hoses for correct installation. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes and cover all openings in order to prevent contamination of the system.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 75 L (19.8 US gal).

Remove eight bolts (11) and the washers. Open left door (9). Open right door (10) .

Remove clamps (6) and hoses (7) from each radiator core (1). Remove bolts (8) and the washers from each radiator core (1) .

Use a pry bar to pry upward on the bottom of radiator core (1). This procedure unseats the radiator core from the seal. Tilt the bottom of the radiator core outward and slide the core downward in order to remove the core.

Remove seal (4) from tank (5).
Repeat this procedure for each of the remaining radiator cores.

Move the middle radiator core to the left in order to pass by the center tubes.Installation Procedure
Reference: Refer to Special Instructions, REHS0047, "Assembly Procedure for the Advanced Modular Cooling System (AMOCS) Radiator Core in Track-Type Tractors" for additional information.Note: Do not use petroleum based lubricants. Do not use silicon based lubricants. Do not use any of the lubricants that are not listed below.Note: The recommended lubricant for the rubber components of the radiator core is 207-1600 Rubber Lubricant. Do not allow the rubber lubricant to freeze.Note: The following lubricants are acceptable for use on the rubber components of the radiator core: 5P-3975 Rubber Lubricant, antifreeze and soap that does not contain chlorine and soap that is not abrasive.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. When a radiator core is installed a new bottom seal should be used.

Apply 207-1600 Rubber Lubricant to the mating surfaces of radiator core (1) and spacer (2). Install spacer (2) and retainer (3) on radiator core (1). Ensure that spacer (2) is seated on radiator core (1). Ensure that retainer (3) is seated firmly on the lip of spacer (2). Retainer (3) should not be misaligned.

Note: When a radiator core (1) is installed a new seal (4) should be used.
Apply 207-1600 Rubber Lubricant to the internal diameters and the external diameters of new seal (4). Install new seal (4) on bottom tank (5) .
