Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install a new gasket, four bolts (24) and the four washers in order to secure bonnet (25) and the two brackets to the transmission oil cooler. Install four bolts (23) in order to secure the top half of tube (11) to the oil cooler.

Place the oil cooler and suitable cribbing onto tool (A). Carefully position the oil cooler under the machine before using tool (A) to lift the oil cooler into position. The weight of the oil cooler is 50 kg (110 lb).

Install a new gasket, six bolts (21) and the six washers in order to secure the oil cooler to elbow (22) .

Install a new gasket and position bracket (20) to the machine. Install three bolts (19) and the three washers in order to secure the bracket to the machine.Note: The uppermost bolt can be installed from the top side of the machine.

Install exhaust pipe (17) into the exhaust tube and tighten two clamp bolts (18) to a torque of 82 13 N m (60 10 lb ft).

Connect exhaust pipe (17) to the turbocharger and install clamp (16). Tighten the clamp to a torque of 11 1.2 N m (8 1 lb ft).

Install bolt (14) and the washer in order to secure oil drain adapter (15) for the engine to the oil cooler. Do not tighten the bolt at this stage.

Install the bottom half of tube (11) to the top half of the tube and to the transmission. Install four bolts (13) and the four washers in order to secure the tube to the transmission. Install clamp (10) in order to secure the bottom half of the tube to the top half of the tube. Install bolt (12) in order to secure the clip to the oil cooler. Tighten the bolt that was left loose in step 8.

Install stud (9) into the transmission oil cooler. The stud should be installed with the tapered end toward the oil cooler.

Install block (8) onto the stud in the oil cooler. Refer to step 10. Install the two halves of tube (7) to the transmission and to the oil cooler. Install three bolts (5), the nut and the four washers in order to secure the tube and the block to the oil cooler.
Install four bolts (4) and the four washers in order to secure tube (7) to the transmission. Install clamp (6) in order to assemble the two halves of tube (7) .

Install bolt (3), the two washers and the nut in order to secure the wiring clip to the bracket. Install bolt (2), the two washers and the nut in order to secure the wiring clip to the bracket. Connect electrical connector (1) and replace the cable strap.End By:
Install the turbocharger guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove and Install".
Install the crankcase guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guard - Remove and Install.".
Refill the torque converter and transmission oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Torque Converter and Transmission oil - Change".
