Place crankshaft front seal (1) (not shown) in position on Tooling (D). Install Tooling (D) to the crankshaft with Tooling (E). Note: Install the crankshaft front seal (1) with the arrow that shows the direction of the crankshaft rotation toward the front of the engine.
The front and rear seals and wear sleeves have different spiral grooves in the seal. Because of this type of design, the front seal group for an engine is different from the rear seal group. If a seal group is installed on the wrong end of the engine, oil can actually be taken out of the engine instead of moving oil back into the engine.
Install Tooling (G) and Tooling (F) onto Tooling (D). Note: Lubricate the face of Tooling (F) before installation.
Tighten Tooling (F) until Tooling (G) contacts Tooling (D).
Remove Tooling (F), Tooling (G), Tooling (E), and Tooling (D) from the crankshaft. Check the crankshaft front seal (1) (not shown) for the correct installation. End By:
Install the crankshaft vibration damper and pulley.
