Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, perform the following procedure prior to servicing the machine.
1. Release the pressure in the brake system and steering system as follows:a. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel, and lower the implements to the ground.b. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel either away from the machine or in view of the operator.c. Activate the parking brake. The parking brake will prevent forward and backward tractor movement with the engine running. It will not prevent tractor movement right or left if the steering wheel is turned with the engine running. Activate the service brakes to prevent all tractor movement with the engine running.d. Stop the engine.e. Move the steering wheel right and left to release the pressure in the steering hydraulic system.f. Depress and release the brake pedal a minimum of 10 times to discharge the brake accumulator.g. Carefully loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure in the tank.h. Be sure all hydraulic pressure is released before any fitting, hose, or component is loosened, tightened, removed, or adjusted.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause severe burns. Drain the hydraulic oil only when the engine is stopped, and the drain fitting is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
2. Drain the implement hydraulic oil tank and the power steering hydraulic oil tank into suitable containers. The capacity of the implement hydraulic oil tank is 61 liters (16 U.S. gal). The capacity of the steering hydraulic oil tank is 35 liters (9 U.S. gal).3. Fasten two nylon straps to the implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and power steering hydraulic oil cooler (2), and support with a hoist as shown.4. Disconnect four hydraulic oil lines (4).5. Remove four bolts and washers (3) from the mounting brackets of implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and power steering hydraulic oil cooler (2).6. Remove implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and power steering hydraulic oil cooler (2). The combined weight of the coolers is 27.2 kg (60 lb).7. Remove the hoist from implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and power steering hydraulic oil cooler (2).8. Remove four bolts and washers (5) to separate power steering hydraulic oil cooler (2) from implement hydraulic oil cooler (1). The following steps are for the installation of the power steering hydraulic oil cooler and the implement hydraulic oil cooler.9. Position implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and steering hydraulic oil cooler (2) together. Secure with four bolts and washers (5).10. Support implement hydraulic oil cooler (1) and steering hydraulic oil cooler (2) with two nylon straps and a hoist. Position implement hydraulic oil cooler (1), and steering hydraulic oil cooler (2) on the radiator frame and install bolts and washers (4).11. Connect four hydraulic oil lines (3).12. Remove the two nylon straps and hoist.13. Fill the implement hydraulic oil tank and the power steering hydraulic oil tank. See the topic "Lubricant Viscosities And Refill Capacities" in the Operations & Maintenance Manual.End By:a. install aftercooler
