PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE ON CERTAIN 795F OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS

Caterpillar’s obligations under this Service Letter are subject to, and shall not apply in contravention of, the laws, rules, regulations, directives, ordinances, orders, or statutes of the United States, or of any other applicable jurisdiction, without recourse or liability with respect to Caterpillar.
This Containment Program can be administered either before or after a failure occurs.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer and service rep. Obtain the service reps Goodwill Approver Code before completing the repair. EAME dealers should use their standard Industry Group specific goodwill approval codes. The Goodwill Approver Code must be included when submitting the claim.
When reporting the repair, use "PS90397" as the Part Number and "7777" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as Warranty Claim Description and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 23Jun2014 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Service Claim Allowences.

PROBLEM
The existing engine requires the connecting rod bearings to be replaced every 8000 hours. This letter may be applied to exchange TYPE 1 engine to a TYPE 2 engine between 7500 and 9000 hours ONLY on certain 795F Off-Highway Trucks.

This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the engine.
Refer to the relevant Removal and Installation instructions (KENR8726).
This Service Letter cannot be combined with program PS43135.
Applies only to 795F Off-Highway Trucks with TYPE 1 engines.
This letter may be applied to exchange a 795F TYPE 1 engine to a TYPE 2 engine between 7500 and 9000 hours ONLY.
Engines orders placed for this program must be ordered as a CPRO part with a minimum 90 day delivery.
A SIMS ticket must be entered listing the NEW engine S/N before this service letter will be paid. Failure to enter a SIMS ticket changing the engine attachment S/N for the claimed truck will cause the service letter claim to be debited.
Instructions on how to change component S/N's in SIMSi is available in two places. The "Help" feature in SIMSi will link to a website that provides documentation by section, in this case you will need to click on "Section 5 - Product Information".
Additionally Special Instruction, REHS5097, "Instructions to Register the Retrofit" provides the steps dealers need to take to make the S/N change.
The OLD engine S/N should be placed in the ?Related Serial Number? field in the claim and the NEW engine S/N should be placed in the "Comments/Findings" field.
The OLD and NEW S/N should also be entering in the claims story.
