Information:

1. Remove tube assembly (1) for the fuel ratio control.2. Remove bar (4) from the aftercooler covers.3. Disconnect linkage (2) from the governor.4. Remove two bolts (3) from the bracket.5. Disconnect the wire to the solenoid. 6. Loosen two bolts (6) that hold the bracket to the engine.7. Remove the two bolts from the front of the governor housing.8. Loosen two bolts (5) in the rear of the governor housing. The two bolts in the rear of the governor housing must be removed with the governor.9. Remove the governor housing from the fuel injection pump housing.Install Governor
1. Put the governor (1) in position on the fuel injection pump housing with the fuel rack lever engaged in the fuel rack. 2. Remove the plug and install rod (2) from tooling (A). Push the rod in until the speed limiter plunger will permit full movement of the governor. Tighten the plug to hold the rod in position.3. Remove the plug from the cover on the side of the fuel injection pump housing and install tooling (A).4. Move the governor control lever while the rack stop collar is pulled up. Do this several times and watch the dial indicator to see if the indicator moves backward and forward. If the dial indicator does not give this indication, the fuel rack lever is not engaged in the rack. Remove the governor and check the position of the fuel rack lever and install the governor again.5. Install the bolts that hold the governor to the fuel injection pump housing.6. Remove tooling (A).7. Install the bolts that hold the brackets to the engine.8. Connect the wire to the solenoid. 9. Connect linkage (4) to the governor.10. Install tube assembly (3).11. Install bar (5).end by:a) install fuel ratio controlDisassemble Governor

Remove pin (61), spring (59) and plunger (60) from the levers. A piece of pipe with a notch in each side can be used to hold spring (59) to remove pin (61).Assemble Governor
1. Install detent plunger, spring and pin in levers (2).2. Install bearings (1) in each side of the governor housing with tooling (A). Install levers (2) and shaft into the governor housing. With levers (2) pushed against the bearing on the boss side, clearance between the guide for the governor spring and levers (2), measured on boss side with a thickness gauge (3) must be approximately .135 in. (3.43 mm). With levers (2) pushed against the bearing on the other side, clearance between the guide for the governor spring and levers (2), measured opposite boss side, must be approximately .100 in. (2.54 mm). If measurements are not correct, remove control levers and shaft and move bearings as necessary to get correct measurements. 3. Remove the shaft and levers and install seal and plug with tooling (B). The lip of the seal must be toward the inside when installed.4. Install the levers and shaft. Install the bolt and lock in levers. 5. Install spring (5), slug (4) and pin in the relief valve (6) for the governor oil pump.6. Install the relief valve (6) in the housing. 7. Install the bearing in the housing with tooling (C) and a press.
The guard has been removed from the press for better illustrations.
