Information:
2. Remove fan guard (3) from the radiator guard assembly. See Remove Fan Guard.3. Remove seven bolts (1) and sheet assembly (2) from the radiator guard assembly. 4. Loosen two hose clamps (10), and disconnect hose (5) and tube (4) as a unit from the radiator.5. Disconnect overflow hose (11) from radiator top tank assembly (7).6. Remove four bolts (9) and radiator top tank assembly (7) from the radiator group. 7. Remove two bolts (15) that hold radiator core (12) to two tie straps (13) (one on each side of the radiator core).8. Loosen the other two bolts (14) that hold the other end of two tie straps (13), and move them out of the way to provide clearance when radiator core (12) is removed. Remove radiator core (12) from the radiator assembly.9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to remove the other radiator cores.
Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping Freon-12 (C C12 F2 Dichloro Difluoro Methane) can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning systems. Inhaling Freon-12 through any smoking material, although not toxic or flammable, can generate phosgene gas and cause violent illness. Also, heat must never be applied to a charged system. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR7454, for more information on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
10. If the machine is equipped with air conditioning, perform the following steps to remove air conditioning cores (17) and (19) from the radiator assembly:a. Loosen coupling (8), and disconnect hose assembly (6) from the coupling to prevent excessive loss of Freon from the system. See photo number C9162P1.b. Loosen the coupling, and disconnect tube assembly (16) from the coupling to prevent excessive loss of Freon from the system.c. Disconnect hose assembly (23) and tube assembly (18) from air conditioning core (19).d. Remove two bolts (20) that hold air conditioning core (19) to two tie straps (22) (one on each side of the radiator core).e. Loosen the other two bolts (21) that hold the other end of two tie straps (22), and move them out of the way to provide clearance when air conditioning core (19) is removed. Remove air conditioning core (19) from the radiator assembly.f. Disconnect hose assembly (23) and the other tube assembly from the bottom of air conditioning core (17).g. Repeat steps c and d to remove air conditioning core (17) from the radiator assembly. 11. Remove seal (24) from each end of the radiator cores and/or the air conditioning cores.Install Radiator And Air Conditioning Cores (Folded Cores)
1. Make sure the radiator cores and the holes in the bottom tank are clean and free of dirt and foreign material.2. Lightly lubricate the inside diameter of the seals and the sealing surface of the seals, the bottom tank and the radiator cores with liquid soap. There are two different seals used in the installation of the radiator cores, the distance between the locating projections on each end of the radiator and air conditioning cores is different. Install the correct seal on each end of the cores.
Typical Example3. Install the correct seals (1) on radiator core (2).4. Put radiator core (2) in position on the bottom tank with locating projections (4) aligned with locating holes (3) in the bottom tank. 5. Put two straps (5) in position and the radiator core, and install bolts (6) that hold them in place. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.6. Inspect the seals to be sure they are not damaged, pinched or folded.7. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 to install the other radiator cores. The installation of air conditioning cores (8) and (9) is similar to the installation of the radiator cores. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 to install the two air conditioning cores.8. Inspect the O-ring seals on hose assembly (10) and tube assembly (7). Make a replacement if necessary. Connect hose assembly (10) and tube assembly (7) to air conditioning core (9). Tighten them to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb.ft.).9. Inspect the O-ring seals on the other end of hose assembly (10) and the tube assembly that connects to the bottom of core (8). Make a replacement if necessary. Connect hose assembly (10) and the tube assembly to air conditioning core (8). Tighten them to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb.ft.). 10. Put tube assembly (11) in position, and tighten the coupling that holds it in place. Tighten the coupling to a torque of 48 N m (35 lb.ft.). 11. Make sure the holes in the top tank are clean and free of dirt and foreign material.12. Lightly lubricate the inside diameter of the seals and the sealing surface of the seals, the top tank and the radiator cores with liquid Soap.13. Install the correct seals on the radiator cores and/or the air conditioning cores.14. Put top tank (15) in position on the cores with each core assembly aligned with the holes in the top tank.15. Push the top tank down into position on the cores, and inspect the seals to be sure they are not damaged, pinched or folded.16. Install four bolts (17) that hold the top tank in place on the side channels. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.17. Connect over flow hose (19) to the radiator top tank assembly.18. Put hose (13) and tube (12) in position on radiator top tank assembly (15) as a unit, and tighten two clamps (18) that hold them in place.19. Put hose assembly (14) in position, and tighten coupling (16) that holds it in place. Tighten the coupling to a torque of 48 N m (35 lb.ft.).
Typical Example20. Adjust the trash gap (clearance between the edges of the core assemblies) on the grille side (front) of the radiator assembly as follows:a. Adjust the cores by hand until dimension A is 6.5 1.5 mm
