PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR OIL TRANSFER FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE ENGINE ON D3B TRACTORS, 910 AND 931B LOADERS, IT12 TOOLCARRIERS, 1202, PS0300 (Revised March 1987) U-10 A-4 AU-5 E-2 O-9 See February 26, 1987 This Service Letter replaces the January 22, 1987 Service Letter and the Service Letter Supplement February 26, 1987. The changes are denoted by (right arrow). This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS0300" as Part Number and "7755" as Group Number. Termination Date

Problem
Transmission oil can transfer past the single lip crankshaft seal into the engine crankcase on some D3B Tractors, 931B and 910 Loaders. This can cause two problems. Excessive oil in the engine results in high oil consumption. Also, low oil level in the transmission can cause low control pressure, resulting in clutch slipping or clutch disengagement. A double lip seal group can be installed. (right arrow)

Action Required
1. Remove the engine and flywheel per Service Manual. 2. Inspect the oil scavenge return port inside of the flywheel housing as shown in Illustration 1. Look for a cast ridge under this hole. See Illustration. Remove the ridge if present. This will allow any oil thrown by the flywheel to flow without restriction into the return port and back to the transmission. Note: Protect the seal area from grinding dust, and clean the housing thoroughly after grinding. ustration 1. (SEE ILLUSTRATION) 3. Replace the rear crankshaft seal and wear sleeve with the proper tooling according to the procedure in Special Instruction SMHS7100-02. The following tools are needed to install the 7W3202 seal group: 1-8T3098 Installer 2-1P5515 Bolt 1-5P290 Locator 1-9S8858 Nut 4. Install the flywheel and engine per Service Manual. WARRANTY ALLOWANCES (SEE ILLUSTRATION) This is a 16 hour job and includes removal and installation of the engine.
