1. Remove the two bolts, and install two 3/8 in. - 16 NC forcing screws to remove water pump adapter assembly (1) from the front drive housing. 2. Remove four bolts (3) from oil pump adapter assembly (2). Remove oil pump adapter assembly (2), the O-ring seal, and the gears from the front drive housing, as a unit. The weight of oil pump adapter assembly (2) and the gears, as a unit is 23 kg (50 lb.).Install Oil & Water Pump Drive
Inspect all O-ring seals for wear or damage and replace as necessary. 1. Make sure the O-ring seal is installed in the groove of oil pump adapter assembly (1). Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.2. Put oil pump adapter assembly (1), the O-ring seal, and the gears, as a unit, in position to the front drive housing. Make sure the drive gear is engaged correctly with the idler gear, and install the bolts that hold oil pump adapter assembly (1) to the front drive housing. The weight of oil pump adapter assembly (1) and the gears, as a unit, is 23 kg (50 lb.). 3. Make sure the O-ring seal is installed in the groove of water pump adapter assembly (2). Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.4. Put water pump adapter assembly (2) in position to the front drive housing. Start By:a. remove oil and water pump drive 1. Remove O-ring seal (4) from oil pump adapter assembly (3).2. Remove four bolts and two thrust washers (2) that hold oil pump drive adapter assembly (3) to pump drive shaft assembly (1). Remove oil pump adapter assembly (3) from pump drive shaft assembly (1). 3. Remove O-ring seals (6) and (7) from oil pump adapter assembly (3).4. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove sleeve bearing (5) from oil pump adapter assembly (3). 5. Remove 12 bolts (9) that hold gears (8) and (10) to pump drive shaft assembly (1). Remove gears (8) and (10) from pump drive shaft assembly (1). 6. Remove O-ring seal (13) from the water pump adapter assembly (12).7. Use a press and Tooling (A) to remove sleeve bearing (11) from water pump adapter assembly (12).Assemble Oil And Water Pump Drive
1. Lower the temperature of the sleeve bearing for water pump adapter assembly (12). Use Tooling (A) to install sleeve bearing (11) to water pump adapter assembly (12). Measure the bore of sleeve bearing (11) after assembly. The bore must measure 75 0.06 mm (3 .002 in.). Install O-ring seal (13) to water pump adapter assembly (12). 2. Put gears (8) and (10) in position on the pump drive shaft assembly, as shown. Install the 12 bolts that hold gears (8) and (10) to the pump drive shaft assembly. 3. Lower the temperature of sleeve bearing (5). Align the oil hole in bearing (5) with the oil hole in oil pump adapter assembly (3). Install the bearing using Tooling (A). Make sure the bearing is flush or below the outside surface of water pump adapter assembly (3). Measure the bore of sleeve bearing (5). The bore of sleeve bearing (5) should measure 75 0.06 mm (3 .002 in.) after installation.4. Install O-ring seals (6) and (7) on oil pump adapter assembly (3). 5. Put oil pump adapter assembly (3) in position on pump drive shaft assembly (1). Install four bolts and two thrust washers (2) that hold pump drive shaft assembly (1) to oil pump adapter assembly (3). 6.
