Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping Freon-12 (C C12 F2 Dichloro Difluoro Methane) can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning systems. Inhaling Freon-12 through any smoking material, although not toxic or flammable, can generate phosgene gas and cause violent illness. Also, heat must never be applied to a charged system. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR7454, for more information on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
14. If the machine is equipped with air conditioning, disconnect the wiring and refrigerant lines as follows:a. Purge the system, see Air Conditioning And Heating, Purging The System, Form No. SENR7454.b. Put plugs in the openings in the compressor and refrigerant lines. Put identification marks on refrigerant lines (21) and (22) as to their location on the compressor.c. Remove bolt (20) and the plate to disconnect refrigerant lines (21) and (22) from the compressor.d. Disconnect the two wires from the compressor at location (X). 15. Put identification marks on wires (24) for assembly purposes, and disconnect them from the sending unit.16. Bend clip (23) open, and remove the wiring harness from the clip. 17. Put identification marks on wires (27) for assembly purposes, and disconnect the two wires from the sending unit.18. Put identification marks on the wires as to their location for assembly purposes, and disconnect all the wires from alternator (25).19. Bend four clips (26) open, and remove the wiring harness from the engine. 20. If the machine is equipped with a heater, disconnect the water hoses as follows:a. Turn valves (28) and (31) to the "OFF" position.b. Loosen the two hose clamps, and disconnect heater hoses (29) and (30) from the valves.
