Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.
Mark and identify hose assemblies for installation purposes. Cap and plug hose assemblies to avoid system contamination. 1. Position a suitable container under plug adapter (2) to contain the engine oil for storage or disposal. Loosen drain plug (1) on plug adapter (2). Repeat procedure on remaining plug adapter. The capacity of the cooling system is 300 L (79 U.S. gal). 2. Remove two nuts (4) and the washers that hold alternator guard (3) to the alternator. Remove alternator guard (3) from the alternator. 3. Remove three bolts (5) and the washers that hold alternator guard assembly (6) to the engine block. Remove nut (7) and the washer. Remove alternator guard assembly (6) from the engine block. 4. Loosen two bolts (10) and the washers on the clamp assemblies. Remove four bolts (9) and the washers that hold bracket (8) to the flange. Remove bracket (8). 5. Remove two-bolts (11) and the washers. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect hose (12) from the valve. 6. Remove the tie straps holding wiring harness (14) to lines adapter (13). 7. Remove four bolts (15), the clips, and the washers that hold lines adapter (13) to the water pump. Remove lines adapter (13) and the two lines adapter gaskets. 8. Remove tube (17) and the O-ring seal from oil cooler bonnet (16). 9. Position a suitable container under engine oil pump (21) to contain engine oil for storage or disposal. Remove three bolts (20) that hold outlet elbow (19) to engine oil pump (21). Remove outlet elbow (19) and the O-ring seal. Remove the O-ring seal off tube (18). 10. Remove two bolts (23) that hold oil pump inlet elbow (22) to engine oil pump (21). 11. Remove three bolts (24) and the washers that hold engine oil pump (21) to the accessory drive. Using two people, remove engine oil pump (21) and the O-ring seals from the accessory drive. The weight of engine oil pump (21) is 37 Kg (82 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the engine oil pump. Inspect all O-ring seals for wear or damage and replace as necessary. 12. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with oil. Using two people, put engine oil pump (21) and the O-ring seals in position on the accessory drive. Install three bolts (24) and the washers holding engine oil pump (21) to the accessory drive. 13. Install two bolts (23) that hold oil pump inlet elbow (22) to engine oil pump (21). Lubricate bore lightly with lubricant being sealed.14. Install the O-ring seal on tube (18). Put outlet elbow (19) and the O-ring seal in position. Install three bolts (20) that hold outlet elbow (19) to engine oil pump (21). Lubricate bore lightly with glycerin.15. Install tube (17) and the O-ring seal to oil cooler bonnet (16). 16. Clean all gasket material on all mating surfaces of lines adapter (13). Put lines adapter (13) and the two lines adapter gaskets in position on the water pump. Install four bolts (15), the clips, and the washers that hold lines adapter (13) to the water pump. 17. Install the new tie straps that hold wiring harness (14) to lines adapter (13). 18. Connect hose (12) on the valve and tighten the hose clamp. Put the hose in position and install two bolts (11). 19. Position bracket (8) on the flange. Install four bolts (9) and the washers. Tighten two bolts (10) and the washers on the clamp assemblies. 20. Position alternator guard assembly (6) on the engine block. Install nut (7) and the washer. Install three bolts (5) and the washers that hold alternator guard assembly (6) to the engine block. 21. Position alternator guard (3) on the alternator. Install two nuts (4) and the washers. 22. Close drain plug (2) on plug adapter (1). Fill the engine cooling system. The capacity of the cooling system is 300 L (79 U.S. gal).23. Refill the engine block with oil. The capacity of the engine block is 125 L (33 U.S. gal). Start By:a. remove engine oil pump
Relief valve cover (2) holds a spring in compression. Sudden release of a spring in compression can cause personal injury. To prevent personal injury, loosen two bolts (1) slowly and evenly to relieve the tension beneath relief valve cover (2).
1. Remove two bolts (1), relief valve cover (2), gasket (3), spring (4) and pressure relief spool (5) from the oil pump body assembly. 2. Remove pump cover assembly (6) and the gasket from the oil pump body assembly. 3. Remove pump cover assembly (7) from the oil pump body assembly. 4. Use Tooling (A) to remove sleeve bearings (8) from pump cover assembly (7). 5. Remove shaft assemblies (10) from oil pump body assembly (9). 6. Use a press to remove gears (11) from the shaft assemblies. 7. Use Tooling (A) to remove sleeve bearings (12) from oil pump body assembly (9).Assemble Engine Oil Pump
1. Make an alignment of sleeve bearings (5) so that the joints are 45 15 degrees from a line through the center of the bearing bores as shown.2. Use Tooling (A) to install sleeve bearings (5) in the oil pump body assembly until they are 1.5 0.5 mm (.06
