Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check for Codes
A. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.
B. Determine if a code is active or logged.
Codes
Result: An associated -9 or -14 code is active or logged.
Repair: Repair all associated -9 or -14 codes before continuing with this procedure. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Data Link - Test" for additional information.
Result: A 5576-14, 5577-14, 3468-14, or 3469-14 code is active or logged.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: An E1132 (2) or 6806-14 code is active or logged.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: An E1585 (2) or 7105-14 code is active or logged.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
2. Check for Incorrect Configuration Parameters
A. Connect Cat ET.
B. Use Cat ET to verify that the correct parameter is being used.
- "Factory Installed Aftertreatment Identification Number"
C. Connect to the "SCR Controller". Under "Aftertreatment Configuration" in the Configuration Parameters, make sure that the "Factory Installed Aftertreatment Identification Number" matches the Clean Emissions Module (CEM) serial number on the CEM data plate.
Identification Number
Result: The CEM serial number matches the "Factory Installed Aftertreatment Identification Number".
Repair: Replace the aftertreatment identification module.
If the problem is not resolved, proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: The CEM serial number does not match the "Factory Installed Aftertreatment Identification Number".
Repair: Verify that the correct CEM is installed on the engine. Program the CEM serial number into the "Factory Installed Aftertreatment Identification Number".
If the problem is not resolved, proceed to Test Step 3.
3. Ensure that the latest Flash File Software is Installed in the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) System
A. Connect Cat ET.
B. Use Cat ET to update the following software:
- "SCR Controller"
Note: The 6806 -14 or E1132 (2) code indicates that the software in the Engine ECM and the"SCR Controller"do not match. If the software in one ECM was updated, and the other was not, this code will log.
Flash File
Result: The software updated successfully and the code changed to logged.
Return to service.
4. Ensure that the latest Flash File Software is Installed in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Control Unit (DCU)
A. Connect Cat ET.
B. Use Cat ET to update the following software:
- "SCR Controller"
- "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Controller #1"
- "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Controller #2"
Note: The 7105-14 or E1585 (2) code indicates the software in the DCUs do not match with the software the SCR Controller is expecting.
Flash File
Result: The software updated successfully and the code changed to logged.
