Information:

Typical Example1. Fasten a hoist to hood assembly (1). Remove bolts (2) and hood assembly (1) from the machine. The weight of the hood assembly is 58 kg (128 lb). Identify and mark all wires, connectors, hoses, lines and fittings to assure correct installation. Plug and cap all openings to prevent contamination and debris from entering the system.
Typical Example2. Remove the bolts and clamps that hold dryer (3) in position, and move the dryer away from the engine. 3. Remove the bolts, plate (4) and switches (5) from radiator guard (6). Disconnect the wires from switches (5).
Typical Example4. Disconnect hose assembly (8) from coupler (7), and store the hose assembly on the engine.
Typical Example
Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping Freon-12 (C C12 F2 Dichloro Difluoro Methane) can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning. Inhaling Freon-12 through any smoking material, although not toxic or flammable, can cause violent illness. Also heat must never be applied to a charged system. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual Form No. SENR3334-01, for more information on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
5. Disconnect hose assemblies (10) and (11) from air conditioning compressor (9).
Typical Example6. Remove the bolts and clips that hold wire harness (13), hoses (14) and tube assembly (15) to tube assembly (12). Move them away from tube assembly (12).7. Fasten a hoist to tube assembly (12). Remove the bolts that hold the tube assembly in place, and remove tube assembly (12) from the frame assembly.
Typical Example8. Loosen the clamps that hold elbows (17) to the air cleaners. Remove elbows (17) and tube assembly (16) as a unit.
Typical Example9. Remove clamp (18) and adapter assembly (19) from the air cleaner.
Typical Example10. Remove bolt (20). Disconnect tube assembly (21) at both ends, and remove it from the machine.
Typical Example11. Loosen the clamps that hold elbows (22) and (24) in position. Remove the elbows and tube assembly (23) as an assembly.
Typical Example12. Remove the four bolts that hold elbow assembly (26) in position. Remove elbow assembly (26) and pipe assembly (28) from elbow assembly (30).13. Remove the clamps that hold elbow assemblies (25) and (29) in position. Remove elbow assembly (25), pipe assembly (27) and elbow assembly (29) from the machine. 14. Disconnect the connectors on wiring harness (31) from the side of the cab. Remove all support clips holding the wiring harness to the machine frame. Store wiring harness (31) on the engine.
Typical Example15. Turn the fuel supply off at the fuel tank.16. Disconnect hose assembly (32) from fuel filter (33).17. Remove the two bolts that hold fuel filter (33) in place, and move the fuel filter away from the engine for clearance purposes.
Typical Example18. Disconnect hose assembly (34) from the fuel return line.
Typical Example19. Loosen the hose clamps that hold hoses (35) and (36) in place. Move the hoses away from the engine.
Typical Example20. Disconnect hose assembly (39) from brake oil cooler (37).21. Remove the four bolts and block (38) from the brake oil cooler.
Typical Example22. Remove clamps (40) and (41) from the tube assemblies.23. Disconnect tube assemblies (42) and (44) at both ends, and remove them from the machine.24. Disconnect hose assemblies (43) and (45) from the brake oil cooler.
Typical Examples25. Disconnect hose assemblies (47) and (48) from air starter (46).26. Disconnect ground wire (49) from the engine. 27. Remove the bolts that hold steering block (50), and move the block away from the engine for clearance purposes. 28. Disconnect hose assembly (52) from steering pump (51). 29. Remove the two bolts and bracket (66) from the flywheel housing. 30. Remove the bolts and drive shaft guard (59).31. Disconnect drive shaft (56) from the torque converter. For purposes of assembly, the torque for the bolts holding the drive shaft to the torque convertor is and install bolts (24). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 550 20 N (410 15 lb ft).32. Disconnect the hoses from lockup clutch valve (57).33. Disconnect hose (60) from the torque converter housing.34. Disconnect hose (54) from the torque converter housing.35. Disconnect hoses (55) from the torque converter housing.36. Remove the bolts and drive shaft guards (58). 37. Remove auxiliary drive shaft (61). For purposes of assembly, the torque for the bolts holding auxiliary drive shaft (61) is 55 5 N (41 4 lb ft). 38. Remove two bolts (63) and cap (62) from the left rear engine support. 39. Remove two bolts (64) and cap (65) from the right rear engine support. 40. Fasten a hoist to the engine and tooling (A). Remove the bolts that hold front support assembly (66) to the frame. Remove the engine from the machine. The weight of the engine is 7030 kg (15500 lb). The following steps are for installing the engine and torque converter41. Fasten a hoist and tooling (A) to the engine. Install the engine and torque converter into the truck. The weight of the engine is 7030 kg (15500 lb).42. Install the bolts that hold front engine support (1) to the frame. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1800 200 N m (1325 150 lb ft). 42. Install caps (62) and (65) in their original positions. Tighten bolts (63) and (64) to 270 25 N m (200 18 lb ft).53. Reverse the procedures and Step 1 through Step 37 to install the engine. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for proper fluids and capacities after the engine installation is complete. Also see Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334-01, for the correct procedure to evacuate and charge the air conditioning system.End By:a. Install torque converter and brake pumpb. install fan and fan guard
