3. Remove clips that hold lines (1) to the engine (623 only).4. Disconnect line (2) for transmission oil temperature. Remove two clips (3) and move the line free of engine. 5. Disconnect two lines (8) from torque converter oil cooler.6. Loosen hose clamps (10) and move hose on tube (9). Remove tube (9). Turn tube (11) toward front of engine (623 only).7. Disconnect two outlet lines (6) from hydraulic pump.8. Remove tube (5).9. Remove four bolts (7) that hold inlet elbow (4). 10. Disconnect supply lines (13) from primary fuel filter and fuel filter.11. Disconnect all lines (12) that fasten to the firewall.12. Disconnect cable (14) for tachometer drive.13. Remove guard (15) from universal joint. 14. Disconnect the override cable (17) from the lever for fuel ratio control. Remove the cable from the firewall.15. Remove four bolts that hold the firewall to the engine. Remove the firewall.16. Remove the air inlet elbow (16).17. Disconnect governor control linkage (18).18. Put identification on starter wiring (19). Disconnect all wiring from starter.19. Disconnect line (20) from engine. 20. Disconnect lines (21) from transfer gear housing. 21. Disconnect air lines (23) from air compressor.22. Disconnect the breather line for the transfer gears from the right side of the transfer gear housing.23. Remove the bolts (22) from the universal joint. 24. Remove the bolts that hold the engine support to the frame.25. Remove engine and transfer gear as a unit with a hoist. Weight is 4300 lb. (1950 kg). The height needed for the hook is 12.5 ft. (3.8 cm).Install Engine And Transfer Gear As A Unit
1. Put the engine and transfer gear as a unit in position on the frame and install the bolts that hold the engine supports to the frame. The height needed for the hook is 12.5 ft. (3.8 cm). 2. Install the bolts (1) in the universal joint. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 110 10 lb.ft. (15.2 1.4 mkg).3. Connect the breather line for the transfer gear to the right side of the transfer gear housing.4. Connect two air lines (2) to the air compressor. 5. Connect two hydraulic lines (3) to the top of the transfer gear housing. 6. Connect line (8) to the left side of the engine block.7. Connect all wiring (7) to the starter in its respective location.8. Connect governor control linkage (6).9. Install air inlet elbow (4).10. Put the firewall in position on the engine and install four bolts that hold it.11. Install the override cable (5) on the firewall and connect it to the lever for fuel ratio control.12. Install the guard (12) for the universal joint.13. Connect the tachometer drive cable (11).14. Connect all lines (9) to the firewall.15. Connect supply lines (10) to primary fuel filter and fuel filter.16. Install four bolts (14) that hold the inlet elbow (16) to the hydraulic pump.17. Install tube (13).18. Connect two outlet lines (15) to hydraulic pump.19. Turn tube (18) to its original location. Install tube and hose. Tighten hose clamps (19). 20. Remove two bolts and disconnect the hose (5) from the transfer gear case.3. Install a 3/4"-10NC eyebolt (4) in the top of the transfer gear case and fasten a hoist (3). 4. Remove two bolts that hold the transfer gear case to the flywheel housing and install two 7/16"-14NC guide bolts 5 in. long.5. Remove the other twelve bolts (6) that hold the case to the flywheel housing.6. Install two 1/2"-13NC screws to cause a force to remove the transfer gear from the flywheel housing. Weight of the transfer gear is 450 lb. (205 kg).Install Engine Transfer Gear
1. Install two 7/16"-14NC guide bolts (1) 5 in. long in the flywheel housing.2. Put the transfer gear in position with a hoist. 3. Install twelve bolts (2) that hold transfer gear to flywheel housing. Remove two guide bolts and install the other two bolts.4. Install the hose (3) to the transfer gear case with two bolts. 5. Remove eyebolt from top of transfer gear case.6. Install the hydraulic pump with two bolts.end by: a) install engine and transfer gear as a unit
