This Special Instruction will guide the user through graphing snapshots that records Engine Diagnostics.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Safety Information

Caterpillar cannot anticipate every possible circumstance of a potential hazard.Therefore, the warnings in this publication and the warnings that are on the product are not all inclusive. Avoid using a tool, a procedure, a work method, or operating technique that is not recommended by Caterpillar. If used, ensure the safety of the operating personnel and others.
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the key for the battery disconnect switch. Use a secure padlock in order to lock the battery compartment access door.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Graphing Snapshot Using Excel
Opening a Snapshot
Follow the below steps for opening a snapshot:
Find and open the zipped Snapshot archive, then open the ".slk" snapshot file.

Select and open a recorded snapshot .zip.

After opening the zip file, select the ".slk" file (if necessary, extract file from archive).

The Snapshot should open with Excel.Preparing Excel for Graphing
Note: If this procedure is not performed correctly, the graph will not turn out as required. Once completed on the (or each) laptop, all snapshots will graph without needing to repeat the procedure.
To prepare Excel for graphing in Excel 2010 and Older, follow the below steps:

In the (already open) snapshot, select the "Insert" tab (A).

Under "Charts" , click the bottom right corner arrow, "Create Chart" (B).
A new window will appear, select "X Y (Scatter)" (C).
Select "Scatter with Smooth Lines" (D) .
Once highlighted, select "Set as Default Chart" (E).
Click "Cancel" when done (F).
To prepare Excel for graphing in Excel 2013, follow the below steps:

In the (already open) snapshot, select (any consecutive) multiple cells (A).
Select the "Insert" tab (B).
