2. Disconnect tube assembly (1) from the flywheel housing. 3. Remove bolt (4) and lock (2), then remove tube (5). Remove O-ring seals (3) from the tube. 4. Remove bolts and nuts (6), then remove lifting bracket (7). 5. Remove nuts (9) and cover (8). Remove O-ring seal from the cover. 6. Remove two bolts (13) and lock (12). Remove washer (11) and seal behind retainer. Remove yoke (10). 7. Remove bolts (14). Remove gear and cage assembly (15) from the flywheel housing. 8. Remove bearings (16) from the gear. 9. Remove bearing cup (17) from cage.10. Remove lip type seal (18) from cage. 11. Remove bearing cup (19) from the flywheel housing. 12. Install two 3/8" -16 NC forged eyebolts or two 5P9637 Link Brackets in the flywheel housing. Fasten a hoist to the eyebolts. Remove bolts (20) that hold the flywheel housing to the cylinder block. Remove flywheel housing (21). Weight of the flywheel housing is 195 kg (430 lb). 13. Remove bolts (23) and washer (22) to remove gear (24), two bearings and a spacer from the flywheel housing. 14. Remove two bearing cups (25), a spacer and a ring from gear (24).Install Flywheel Housing
1. Install ring (1) in the groove inside the bore of gear (2). 2. Install spacer (3) in the bore of gear (2). Make sure the flange side of spacer (3) is toward the long side of the bore divided by the ring groove. 3. Lower the temperature of the bearing cups (4) then install them in gear (2). 4. Install the O-ring seal on the shaft and put gear (2), two bearings and a spacer in position in the flywheel housing. Install washer (5) and the bolts to hold the shaft, gear (2), two bearings and spacer in position. 5. Put a new gasket on the flywheel housing and cut the gasket between the flywheel housing and the block even with the bottom of the flywheel housing after assembly.6. Install two 3/8" -16 NC forged eyebolts or two 5P9736 link brackets in the flywheel housing. Fasten a hoist to the eyebolts. Put flywheel housing (6) in position on the cylinder block. Install all the bolts that hold housing to cylinder block. 7. Tighten flywheel housing bolts with this procedure:a) Tighten bolts 1 through 7 in number sequence to a torque of 135 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).b) Tighten bolts 8 through 18 in number sequence to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb ft).c) Tighten bolts 1 through 7 again in number sequence to a torque of 135 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).d) Tighten bolts 8 through 18 again in number sequence to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb ft). 8. Lower the temperature of bearing cup and install it in cage (7).9. Install lip type seal in cage (7) with tool group (A). Install the seal until it makes contact with the counterbore in the cage and with the lip of the seal toward the bearing. 10. Heat bearings (8) to a maximum temperature of 135°C (275°F). Install these bearings on gear (9). 11. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (10) then install it in the flywheel housing. 12. Install gear assembly in flywheel housing. Install cage (7) on housing with the bolts (11) that hold it.13. Install yoke (12). Install O-ring seal, washer, lock and two bolts. 14. Install a new O-ring seal (13) on cover (14). Install cover (14) on the flywheel housing with the nuts that hold it. 15. Install lifting bracket (15) on the flywheel housing with the bolts and nuts that hold it. 16. Install two new O-ring seals (17) on tube (16). Install tube (16) in the flywheel housing with the lock and bolt that hold it. 17. Connect tube assembly (18) to the flywheel housing.18. Install the torque converter on the engine.
