Information:
(1) AC Voltage Meter. (2) Frequency Meter. (3) AC Ammeter. (4) Ammeter/Voltmeter Phase Selector Switch (AVS). (5) Pump Stop Pushbutton. (6) Starting Aid Switch. (7) Pump Run Pushbutton. (8) Fault Indicator Lights. (9) Speed Adjust Potentiometer. (10) Voltage Adjust Rheostat (VAR). (11) Engine Coolant Temperature. (12) Battery Voltage Meter. (13) Engine Oil Pressure. (14) Service Hour Meter. (15) Emergency Stop Push Button (ESPB). (16) Warning Reset Lamp Test. (17) Alarm Horn. (18) Engine Control Switch (ECS). (19) Alarm Silence Button.* The Pump Stop Pushbutton (5) (optional) is used in conjunction with the generator mounted automatic fuel transfer system (if equipped). The pump stop pushbutton is used to manually stop the AC fuel transfer pump. The pump stop pushbutton can be reset by depressing it a second time.* The Starting Aid Switch (SAS) (6) (optional) is used to inject ether into the engine for starting in harsh weather conditions. When the ECS is in the Manual Start position and the SAS is pressed and held in the ON position, the start aid solenoid valve (SASV) energizes and meters a specific amount of ether into a holding chamber. When the SAS is released, the SASV de-energizes and the ether is released to the engine. * The Pump Run Pushbutton (7) (optional) is used in conjunction with the generator set mounted automatic fuel transfer system (if equipped). Pushing the pump run pushbutton will cause the generator set mounted AC fuel transfer pump to fill the generator set day tank. The pump will automatically shut off when the fuel level contactor reaches the high fuel level. The pump can also be shutoff manually by depressing the Pump Stop Pushbutton.* The Speed Adjust Potentiometer (optional) (9) is used to raise or lower the engine speed when the generator set is fitted with an electronic governor. The Generator Set Control Panel can be equipped with either the governor control switch, the speed adjust potentiometer, or neither.* The voltage adjust rheostat (10), is used to adjust the generator output voltage.* The emergency stop pushbutton (ESPB) (15) is used to shut down the engine during an emergency situation. The ESPB shuts off the fuel and activates the optional air shutoff (if equipped).* The engine control switch (ECS), (18), determines the status of the control panel. In the AUTOmatic position (3 o'clock), the engine will start automatically whenever the remote initiating contact is closed. The engine will shutdown after the initiating contact opens. When the ECS is in the MAN. START position (9 o'clock), the engine will start and run as long as the ECS remains in this position. When the ECS is in the OFF/RESET position (12 and 6 o'clock), the fault lights are reset and the engine shuts down immediately.* The Alarm Silence Pushbutton (19) (optional) is used in conjunction with an optional audible alarm horn. The alarm silence pushbutton silences the horn output. The horn will activate when one of the fault indicators is activated.* The Governor Switch (GS) (optional) is used to raise and lower the engine speed when the governor is equipped with a speed adjust motor. The Generator Set Control Panel can be equipped with either the governor control switch, the speed adjust potentiometer, or neither.Generator Set Control
The left side of the Generator Set Control panel is the main component of the system, which displays generator output, generator set functions, and key engine parameters. The Generator Set Control accepts information from the operator, magnetic pickup, oil pressure and water temperature sensors, and optional remote sources. The accepted information is used to determine the on/off state of the engine's air, fuel, and starting motor. In the very basic operating conditions, the Generator Set Control receives a signal to run the generator set. The Generator Set Control turns on the engine's fuel and starting motor. When the engine speed reaches the crank termination speed, the starting motor is disengaged. When the Generator Set Control receives a signal to stop the engine, it shuts the fuel off.Fault Indicators
The engine can be automatically shutdown by the engine protection devices. When a fault occurs and the engine is shut down, the corresponding fault indicator light will illuminate. To restart the engine after a shutdown caused by a fault condition, several steps must be taken.1. Turn the ECS to the OFF/RESET position.2. Refer to the fault indicator lights to find out why the engine was shutdown. Correct the fault condition that caused the shutdown. If necessary, refer to the service manual for more information.3. Reset the Emergency Stop Pushbutton (ESPB) located on the control panel.4. Reset the air shutoff lever, which is located at the top of the air inlet housing.5. Turn the ECS to the MAN. START or the AUTOmatic position to start the engine. For more information on the Generator Set Control Panel, refer to RENR1251, Generator Set Control Panel.
