Table 1
Diagnostic Codes Table
Code and Description     Conditions which Generate this Code     System Response
100-13 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor calibration required     The engine oil pressure sensor has never been calibrated.
The engine oil pressure is less than
35 kPa (5.1 psi) or the engine oil pressure greater than
130 kPa (18.9 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
The engine oil pressure fluctuates more than
25 kPa (3.6 psi) or the engine oil pressure differs from atmospheric pressure more than
27 kPa (3.9 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
There are active diagnostic codes for the engine oil pressure sensor or the atmospheric pressure sensor during an attempt at calibration.     The code is logged.
During a manual calibration, the pressure offset value is set to
0 kPa (0 psi).
During an automatic calibration, the pressure offset value is set to the previous calibration value.
273-13 Turbocharger Outlet Pressure Sensor calibration required     The turbocharger outlet pressure sensor has never been calibrated.
The turbocharger outlet pressure is less than
35 kPa (5.1 psi) or the turbocharger outlet pressure greater than
122 kPa (17.7 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
The turbocharger outlet pressure fluctuates more than
10 kPa (1.5 psi) or the turbocharger outlet pressure differs from atmospheric pressure more than
15 kPa (2.2 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
There are active diagnostic codes for the turbocharger outlet pressure sensor during an attempt at calibration.
274-13 Atmospheric Pressure Sensor calibration required     The atmospheric pressure sensor has never been calibrated.
The absolute atmospheric pressure is less than
45 kPa (6.5 psi) or the absolute atmospheric pressure is greater than
111 kPa (16.1 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
The atmospheric pressure fluctuates more than
5 kPa (0.73 psi) during an attempt at calibration.
There are active diagnostic codes for the atmospheric pressure sensor during an attempt at calibration.     The code is logged.
All pressure offsets are set to
0 kPa (0 psi).    The Electronic Control Module (ECM) attempts to perform an automatic calibration of all pressure sensors whenever the ECM is powered and the engine has been off for at least five seconds. Cranking the engine during the first five seconds causes the ECM to abort the calibration attempt.During an automatic pressure sensor calibration, the ECM checks all pressure sensors against an acceptable range. If any pressure sensor reading is outside the acceptable range, the previous calibration value is used. The ECM then calibrates all pressure sensors against the atmospheric pressure sensor.A pressure sensor calibration will not be successful if there are active sensor diagnostic codes for any of the sensors. A pressure sensor calibration will not be successful if one of the following conditions exist:
The pressure reading is outside of an acceptable range.
The pressure reading varies significantly during calibration.Check for active diagnostic codes and/or for logged diagnostic codes. Troubleshoot any diagnostic codes that are present before continuing with this procedure.
Perform a Manual Calibration of the Sensors.
Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the data link connector.
Select "Calibrations" from the "Service" menu on Cat ET. Select the "Pressure Sensor Calibration" from the "Calibrations" menu. The ECM will perform a pressure sensor calibration when this screen is entered.
Investigate a Failed Manual Calibration.
Check if any pressure sensors caused a 13 diagnostic code which indicates that a calibration is required.
Verify that the correct sensor(s) has been installed.
Check Cat ET for the reading of the pressure sensor(s).
Verify the following pressure sensor readings:
The turbocharger outlet pressure does not differ from atmospheric pressure by more than 15 kPa (2.0 psi).
The engine oil pressure does not differ from atmospheric pressure by more than 27 kPa (4.0 psi).
The atmospheric pressure does not differ from actual barometric pressure by more than 5 kPa (0.7 psi).
