2. Remove two bolts (1) and remove elbow (2) and gasket from the water pump. Remove the O-ring seal from the elbow. 3. Disconnect coolant lines (3) and (4) from the shutoff valves.4. Remove clip (7).5. Remove two bolts (5) that hold bonnet (6) to the water pump. Pull bonnet (6) clear of the water pump.6. Loosen clamps (8). Slide hose (9) away from the water pump. 7. Loosen the bolt which holds the clip on the oil pan for breather tube (12).8. Remove four bolts (10) and cover (11) from the water pump.9. Install tool (A) and fasten a hoist. 10. Remove bolts (13), (14), (15), (16), (17), (18) and (19) that hold the water pump to the timing gear plate. 11. Remove water pump (20). The weight is 40 lb. (18 kg.).Install Water Pump
1. Inspect the O-ring seals and gaskets for damage and make replacements if needed. 2. Install tool (A) and fasten a hoist. Make sure the O-ring seal is in position on the face of the water pump. Put water pump (2) into position in the timing gear plate. Install bolts (1) that hold the water pump in place. 3. Make sure the O-ring seal is in position and install cover (3) on the water pump.4. Tighten the bolt for the clip that holds the breather tube in place. 5. Put hose (6) in position on the water pump. Tighten clamps (5).6. Install the gasket for bonnet (4). Put bonnet (4) in position against the water pump and install the two bolts that hold the bonnet to the water pump.7. Install the clip between the bonnet and the oil cooler. 8. Connect coolant lines (7) and (8) to the shutoff valves. 9. Install O-ring seal (10) and the gasket for elbow (9). Install elbow (9) in the water pump. Install the two bolts that hold the elbow to the water temperature regulator housing.10. Fill the cooling system with coolant. start by:a) remove water pump 1. Remove O-ring seal (1) from the adapter.2. Remove adapter (2) from the housing. Remove the O-ring seal from the outside diameter of the adapter.3. Remove bolt (3) and retainer that hold the impeller on the shaft. 4. Use tooling (A) to remove impeller (4) from the shaft. 5. Remove spring and seal (5) from the shaft. 6. Remove four bolts (7) from retainer (6) that holds the shaft assembly to the pump housing.7. Remove O-ring seal (8) from the housing. 8. Remove gear and shaft assembly (10) from the housing.9. Remove bolt (9) and retainer from the shaft assembly. 10. Use a press to remove the shaft assembly from gear (11). Remove the retainer from the shaft assembly. 11. Remove bearing (13), spacer (14) and bearing (12) from the shaft. 12. Remove lip type seal (15) from the housing.13. Turn the housing over and remove ceramic ring (16) and the seal.Assemble Water Pump
1. Install bearing (4), spacer (3) and bearing (2) on shaft (8).2. Put retainer (1) and gear (7) in position on the shaft assembly. Install retainer (6) and bolt (5). 3. Use tooling (A) to install the lip seal in the housing. Put a small amount of SAE 30 oil on the lip of the seal. 4. Install a new O-ring seal (10) on the housing.5. Put shaft assembly (9) in position in the housing. Install the bolts that hold the retainer to the housing.
Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assistance at installation. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
6. Put ceramic ring (12) in position in the rubber seal (11). Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the ceramic ring in the housing. 7. Remove the spring from the seal assembly (13). Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the seal assembly. Push seal assembly on the shaft until the seal faces make light contact. 8. Install spring (15) on the shaft.9. Put impeller (14) in position on the shaft. Install washer and bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 28 2 lb.ft. (39 3 N m). 10. Install O-ring seal (17) on the outside diameter of the adapter. Put a small amount of SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seal.11. Install O-ring seal (18) on the adapter.12. Put adapter (16) in position on the housing.end by:a) install water pump
