PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE SENSORS AND INSTALLING NEW TARGETS ON THE AIR SHUT OFF VALVES INSTALLED ON CERTAIN 3508B, 3512B, 3512C, 3516B, AND 3516C PETROLEUM AND MARINE ENGINES

This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI11148" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty ClaimDescription Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI11148" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 31May2018 (Revised 12Sep2018) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product and Parts Needed.
PROBLEM
The existing sensors need to be replaced on certain 3508B, 3512B, 3512C, 3516B, and 3516C Petroleum and Marine Engines. The existing sensors may not detect a closed or partially closed air shut off. This may allow an engine with 2 air shut offs installed to operate with 1 air shut off valve open and one closed which may cause an engine failure. This engine failure may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death.
