Personal injury may occur from failure to properly service the batteries.Batteries give off flammable fumes that can explode. Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts the skin or eyes.Prevent sparks near the batteries. Sparks could cause vapors to explode. Do not allow jumper cable ends to contact each other or the engine. Improper jumper cable connections can cause an explosion.Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps.Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.
Open the access door to battery disconnect switch (1). Make sure that the battery disconnect switch is in the OFF position and that the key has been removed.

Remove bolts (2) and the washers. Remove cover (3) .

Remove bolts (4) and the washers. Remove cover (5) .

Remove nut (6) and the washer. Remove battery hold-down (7) .

Remove the cover from the negative battery post of the front battery. Loosen the nut in order to remove battery terminal (9) .
Remove the cover from the positive post of the front battery. Loosen the nut in order to remove battery terminal (11) .Note: Note the location of the battery posts for installation purposes.
Remove the front battery. The weight of the battery is 25 kg (55 lb).
Remove the covers from both of the terminals of the rear battery. Loosen the nuts in order to remove battery terminal (10) and battery terminal (8) .Note: Note the location of the battery posts for installation purposes.
Remove the rear battery. The weight of the battery is 25 kg (55 lb).Installation Procedure

Note: Make sure that the batteries are installed into the correct locations.Note: Make sure that the battery cables are connected to the proper battery posts.
Install the rear battery. The weight of the battery is 25 kg (55 lb).
Install battery terminal (10) and battery terminal (8) on the battery posts. Tighten the nuts on the battery terminals to a torque of 7.2 1.6 N m (63.73 14.16 lb in). Install the covers on both of the terminals of the rear battery.Note: Make sure that the battery cables are connected to the proper battery posts.
Install the front battery. The weight of the battery is 25 kg (55 lb).
Install battery terminal (11) on the battery post. Tighten the nut on the battery terminal to a torque of 7.2 1.6 N m (63.73 14.16 lb in). Install the cover on the battery terminal.
Install battery terminal (9) on the battery post. Tighten the nut on the battery terminal to a torque of 7.2 1.6 N m (63.73 14.16 lb in). Install the cover on the battery terminal.

Install battery hold-down (7). Install the washer and nut (6). Tighten the nut to a torque of 20 5 N m (14.8 3.7 lb ft).

Install cover (5). Install the washers and bolts (4) .
