Information:

Introduction
Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this Special Instruction until you understand the information that is contained in this document.Procedure
Note: Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) 2010C or newer must be used for this procedure.
Install an On/Off switch on the dashboard of the vehicle.
Run the power wire from the "on" position of the switch to an input pin (6, 7, 22, 23, 35, 40, 44, 45, 46, 47, 56, 58, 59, or 60) of the Electronic Control Module (ECM) P1 connector. The P1 is the smaller connector. The input value will default to "None". When programmed to "None", the input will be ignored and the engine will operate as if the manual state was selected.
Run a ground wire for the switch to an available common ground pin (3,5, or 18) on the ECM P1
Illustration 1 g02348779
Note: Pin 5 is used in Illustration 1. Pin 3, 5, or 18 can also be used, if available. Use Cat ET to program the "Automatic Stationary Regen Switch" parameter to the J1:P1 position used in Step 2.
The automatic stationary regeneration switch input is used to allow the engine to facilitate an automatic regeneration in a stationary vehicle under the following conditions:
Vehicle speed is 0.
Engine speed is between 1300 and 1800.
Engine speed under a load over 50% is between 1100 and 1300
A minimum level of soot has accumulated as calculated by the soot model
The automatic stationary regeneration switch is in the automatic state ("on")
Flash the engine with software that is Nov2010 or newer.
Add "ARD Automatic Regeneration Switch Status" and "ARD Automatic Regeneration Arming Status" to the regeneration group within the status parameters that have already been created. Adding these parameters will allow you to move the position of the switch and verify that the switch is recognized by the ECM.Note: The ECM must recognize the switch input transition of the automatic stationary regeneration switch from manual mode ("off") to the automatic state ("on") during the current key cycle to accept the switch input. If the switch is left in the "on" position when the ignition is turned on, return the switch to the "off" position. Turn the automatic stationary regeneration switch to the "on" position to allow the ECM to accept the input and allow the automatic stationary regeneration functionality.Note: The automatic stationary regeneration switch must be in Manual mode to allow the ARD force switch to trigger a stationary manual regeneration.Note: The aftertreatment regeneration inhibit switch will also prevent automatic and manually triggered active regenerations.Note: Transient regenerations (regenerations with the vehicle moving) are not impacted by the automatic stationary regeneration switch.Note: For C13 and C15 engines the automatic regeneration feature is effective for engine operating in Power Take Off (PTO) mode between 1000 and 1900 RPM depending on engine load. The higher the engine load, the lower RPM that automatic regeneration will initiateNote: For C7 and C9 engines the automatic regeneration feature is effective for all engines operating in PTO mode between 1100 and 1900 RPM but can be effective as low as 700 RPM and as high as 2300 RPM depending on engine load.
