1 Disconnect oil drain line (1) for the air compressor at elbow (2). Clean the threads in all bolts holes (A) and (B) and (C). Install a 667948 Bumper (3), as shown, in hole (B). 2 Put engine oil for lubrication on two 9N2231 Grommets (4) and install the grommets, as shown, in the two holes (D) in the 9N2226 Panel Assembly (5). 3 Put engine oil on three 9N2231 Grommets (4) and install the grommets, as shown, in the three holes (E) in 9N2227 Panel Assembly (6). 4 Install panel assemblies (5) and (6) on the engine. Use 1B2790 Bolts (7) with 9N869 Washers (8) to fasten the panel assemblies to the cylinder block. Connect drain hose (1) to elbow (2). Put a 667948 Bumper (3) in 9N2225 Clip (9). Use 3B1915 Bolt (10) with a 5M2894 Washer and a 5H3124 Spacer (11) at bolt hole (C) as shown, to hold panel assembly (5) against the cylinder block. 5 Put a 667948 Bumper (3) in hole (F) of 9N2230 Bracket (12) as shown. Use three S509 Bolts (13) with 5M2894 Washers to fasten bracket (12) to the mounting pad at location (G) on housing (14) for the fuel pump drive. 1 Count from the rear and remove the second and third bolts (A) and washers and the sixth and seventh bolts (B) and washers that fasten the oil pan to each side of the cylinder block. 2 Install a 9N2238 Bracket (1) at the location for the second and third bolts (A) on each side of oil pan (3). Install the 9N2240 Bracket at the location for the sixth and seventh bolts (B) on the right side of the engine. Install the 9N2239 Bracket at the location for the sixth and seventh bolts (B) on the left side of the engine. Install all brackets so the welded-on nut (2) is toward oil pan (3). Use the same bolts (A) and (B), and washers, that were removed in step 1, to fasten the brackets to the oil pan. All reference to left side and right side of the engine is made when you look forward from the flywheel end of the engine. Early engines that are equipped with a BrakeSaver have a hose assembly for seal drain that is connected to the left side of the engine oil pan. For these engines, drain the engine oil and disconnect the hose assembly at the 2P8511 Elbow in the engine oil pan. Remove the 2P8511 Elbow. 3 Put engine oil for lubrication on four 4N9915 Grommets (4). Install a grommet (4) in each hole (C) of the four brackets (5) on panel (6). 4 Put panel (6) in position under the oil pan. Use four 1B7182 Bolts (7) with 1Y462 Washers to fasten panel (6) to brackets (1). For earlier engines that are equipped with a BrakeSaver, install a 6B9081 Bushing and a 17039 Elbow in the oil pan hole where the 2P8511 Elbow was removed. Connect the hose assembly for seal drain to the 17039 Elbow and put the correct amount of oil in the engine.9N2579
