Table 1
Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Code and Description Conditions which Generate this Code System Response
E175(2) External Derate Requested The ECM has determined that the engine load factor was operating in overload capacity zone more than the Engine Rating Definition.
Maximum of 1 hour in 12
(or)
Maximum of 25 hours per year The code is logged.
The ECM activates 20% derate (10% load factor) until the loads are less than the Engine Rating Definition. De-rate Timer Strategy

(1) The full 20% de-rate will limit the displayed engine load to 90%. Refer to the chart below. For prime power ratings, the engine power rating is developed so that displayed "Engine Load" reads 100% when the generator set is operating at maximum overload condition at 110%. When the generator set is operating at "Rated Power", the engine will read 91%.When the overload time limit has been reached, the engine ECM will begin the de-rate process. The de-rate is based off the engine operating at rated engine load (100%). The de-rate is based on a full de-rate (100%) limiting the engine load to 50%. When the 20% de-rate is applied, the engine load will be decreased by 10%. This action will limit the displayed engine load to "90%".

Refer to Troubleshooting, "Troubleshooting without a Diagnostic Code" for additional information.
Table 4
Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Operator
A. The power demand must not exceed 91% of the rated power of the engine for 1 hour in 12 or 25 hours per year. Interview the operator and determine the events that caused the power demand to be so high.
Operator
Result: The operator is operating the engine correctly.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: The operator is not operating the engine correctly.
Operate the engine correctly.
2. Engine has loss of power
A. Check the engine for higher than normal engine load factors.
Mechanical failure
Result: Engine load factors are higher than normal for the amount of flywheel power being produced.
Diagnose the problem and then repair the problem.
Utilize "Acceleration is Poor or Throttle Response is Poor".
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
Complete the procedure in the order in which the steps are listed. The procedure corrected the issue. Return the engine to service. The procedure did not correct the issue.Contact your Cat dealer Technical Communicator (TC). For further assistance, your TC can confer with the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN).
