Information:
Ensure that the wiring harness assembly is correctly routed and the cable straps are not over tightened. Over tightening of the cable straps will damage the wiring harness and the convoluting.
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) can be a fuel cooled ECM or air cooled ECM. The installation procedure is similar for a fuel cooled ECM or air cooled ECM.
If a replacement ECM is installed, the replacement ECM must be programmed with the correct information. Refer to Troubleshooting Guide, "Replacing the ECM" and refer to Troubleshooting Guide, "Flash Programming" for the correct procedure.
Ensure that the electronic control module is clean and free from damage. If necessary, replace the electronic control module.

If necessary, install spacers (39) to the cylinder block. Tighten the spacers to a torque of 44 N m (32 lb ft).
If necessary, follow Step 5a through Step 5d to assemble ECM (28).
Remove caps from connection (30). Install new O-ring seal (43) to the connection.
Remove caps from connection (33). Install a new O-ring seal (44) to the connection.
Remove plugs from ECM (18). Install connection (30) and connection (33) to the ECM. Tighten the connections to a torque of 18 N m (159 lb in).
Install isolation mount (40), isolation mount (42), and limit sleeves (41) to ECM (18).
Position bracket (2) onto ECM (18). Ensure that the bracket is correctly orientated.
Position bracket (2) and ECM (18) onto the cylinder block. Support the weight of the ECM as the bolts are installed.Note: Ensure that the fuel injection line is not damaged during the installation of the bracket.
Install bolts (36) and washer (38) (not shown) to bracket (2) and to ECM (18). Ensure that earth strap (37) is correctly positioned between the bolt and the washer. Hand tighten the bolts.
Tighten bolts (36) to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).

Install plastic tube assembly (22) to clips (28).
Remove the plug from cylinder head and the cap from tube assembly (24). Install a new O-ring seal (26) (not shown) to the tube assembly.
Install tube assembly (24) to the bracket and the cylinder head. Install bolt (25) to the tube assembly hand tight.
Use a suitable tool to hold tube assembly (24) as nut (32) is tightened hand tight.
Tighten bolt (25) to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Use the suitable tool to hold tube assembly (24) as nut (32) is tightened. Tighten the nut to a torque of 28 N m (248 lb in). Ensure that the tube assembly is not strained as the nut is tightened.
Remove the plugs from plastic tube assembly (23) and plastic tube assembly (27). Remove the caps from tube assembly (24).Connect plastic tube assembly (23) and plastic tube assembly (27) to tube assembly (24).
Remove the cap from connection (31) and connect the return to tank fuel line (not shown).
Remove the plug from plastic tube assembly (29) and remove the cap from connection (30). Install plastic tube assembly (29) to connection (30).
Remove the plug from plastic tube assembly (34) and remove the cap from connection (33). Install plastic tube assembly (34) to connection (33).

Install bolt (14) to bracket (13). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 11 N m (97 lb in).
Position engine harness assembly (21) onto ECM (18). Ensure that the engine wiring harness is correctly routed.
Tighten the Allen head bolt (16) that secures plug (17) for engine harness assembly (21) to ECM (18).Note: Care must be taken to avoid damage to the connector pins during installation of the harness assembly.
Install bolt (19) to plug (17). Hand tighten the bolt.
Tighten Allen head bolt (16) to a torque of 6 N m (53 lb in).Tighten bolt (19) to a torque of 6.5 N m (59 lb in).
Install connection (20) to clamp (15).
Repeat Step 20 through Step 24 for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) harness assembly.

Install new cable straps (1) to engine harness assembly.Note: Ensure that the cable straps meet OEM specifications.
Position bracket (5) on tube assembly (6).
Position spacer (3) onto bracket (2) and position bracket (5) onto spacer (3).
Install bolt (4) and tighten the bolt to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Position bracket (7) onto the cylinder block and install bolt (9). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Connect the harness assembly (8) to the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Position Sensor - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Connected harness assembly (11) to the engine oil pressure sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Connected harness assembly (12) to the fuel temperature sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Temperature Sensor- Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Install plastic tube assembly (10) to the crankcase breather canister. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Install new cable strap and cable strap (1) to plastic tube assembly (10).Note: Ensure that cable straps meet the OEM specification.
If necessary, install the dipstick tube assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, install the fuel priming pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Priming Pump - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, install the air compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, install the primary fuel filter assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Separator and Fuel Filter (Primary) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, install the secondary filter assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operat
