This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31846" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31846" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain 0R-9841 Remanufcatured 3508B engines used to repower 777D trucks were shipped with the incorrect engine software. Fifty-five Remanufactured engines were shipped with 306-4183 Software and need the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM) to be flashed with 306-4153 Software. The performance differences between the two software files are neglible. The software needs to be updated in these engines to make them compatible with the production engines in terms of performance and emissions, and the need to maintain product quality and operation.

1. Inspect the serial number on all 0R-9841 Engines in Dealer Parts Stock.
- If the 0R-9841 Engine serial number IS NOT listed in the table in Image1, no further action is required. Tag the engine to indicate it has been inspected according to this program (PI3####).
- If the 0R-9841 Engine serial number IS listed in the table in Image1, flash the Engine ECM with the 306-4153 Software. Tag the engine to indicate it has been updated according to this program (PI3####).

Determine if your dealership has sold or serviced any of the affected 3508B engines referenced in Image1 below installed in 777D applications. This information may be contained in SIMSi or records internal to your specific dealership. Only the Remanufactured engines in the table in Image1 are affected by this Service Letter.
1. Inspect the engine part number and serial number installed in the trucks listed in the Affected Product.
- If the engine part number IS NOT 0R-9841, no further action is required. Submit claim as not applicable.
- If the engine part number IS 0R-9841, proceed to Step 2.
2. Verify if the serial number for the 0R-9841 Engine is listed in the table in Image1.
