Information:

Removing The Power Take-Off
INADVERTENT STARTING OF THE CUTTER CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY. SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN, LOCK THE CUTTER CONTROL AT "OFF", AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE WORKING NEAR THE POWER TAKE-OFF.
1. Disconnect the air cleaner indicator hose from the air tube. Cover the openings in the hose and air tube to keep dirt out.2. Disconnect the air tube from the air cleaners and tubocharger, then move the air tube away. Cover the openings in the air cleaners, air tube and turbocharger to keep dirt out.3. Remove the handrailing from over the rear engine cowling. 4. Attach a lifting device to the rear engine cowling, unbolt the cowling and remove it. Open the cutter belt guard. 5. Turn the nuts on the adjusting bolt to relieve the drive belt tension, then remove the belts.
AIR ESCAPING FROM THE SYSTEM CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY. STAY CLEAR WHEN DRAINING THE RESERVOIR.
6. Open the drain valve at the bottom of the reservoir to completely relieve the air pressure in the system. Close the drain valve. 7. Disconnect the air hose from the fitting on the end of the power take-off shaft and cap or plug the openings in the hose and fitting. Remove the air hose from the hose bracket and power take-off support and lay the hose aside where it will not interfere with power take-off removal.8. Remove the hose bracket from the power take-off support, then remove the fitting from the end of the power take-off shaft. Cap or plug the openings in the shaft and fitting. 9. Remove the inspection cover from the power take-off housing, then disconnect the air hoses from the power take-off clutch. 10. Remove the bolts that hold the power take-off support to the mainframe.11. Attach a lifting device to the power take-off housing and support its weight.12. Remove the power take-off housing mounting bolts, pull the power take-off straight back from the engine until the clutch is clear of the driving ring, then lift the power take-off and attached support away. Be careful not to lose any shims that are under the support.Installing The Power Take-Off
INADVERTENT STARTING OF THE CUTTER CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN, LOCK THE CUTTER CONTROL AT "OFF", AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE WORKING NEAR THE POWER TAKE-OFF.
IF DESIRED, A VERY LIGHT FILM OF MOLYKOTE (CMI NO. A03307) OR EQUIVALENT GRAPHITE GREASE MAY BE APPLIED TO THE CLUTCH GEAR TEETH. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY LUBRICANT ON THE CLUTCH FRICTION SURFACES.
1. Attach a lifting device to the power take-off housing and move the housing near the rear of the engine.2. Turn the power take-off sheave as necessary to align the friction disc teeth with the driving ring teeth, then move the housing into position on the flywheel housing.3. Install the power take-off mounting bolts.4. Install the bolts that connect the power take-off support to the mainframe, using the same number and thickness of shims as when the power take-off was removed.5. Connect the air hoses to the power take-off clutch, then install the inspection cover on the power take-off housing. 6. Install the fitting on the end of the power take-off shaft and the hose bracket on the power take-off support.7. Connect the air hose to the fitting, then tie-wrap the hose to the hose bracket and clamp the hose to the power take-off support.8. Install the drive belts and adjust the belt tension (see Cutter 3.0-2).
TO BE CERTAIN BOTH BEARINGS ARE ADEQUATELY LUBRICATED AND ALL HOUSING CAVITIES ARE FILLED WITH LUBRICANT, APPLY GREASE THROUGH BOTH GREASE FITTINGS UNTIL EXCESS LUBRICANT FLOWS FROM THE RELIEF VALVE.
9. Connect a grease gun filled with the proper lubricant (see General 2.0-1 for specification) to the rear grease fitting. Apply lubricant through the fitting until excess lubricant flows from the relief valve.10. Repeat step 9 for the front grease fitting.11. Install the rear engine cowling, hand rail, air tube and air cleaner indicator hose. Close the belt guard.Replacing The Clutch Airtube
THE POWER TAKE-OFF CLUTCH IS A DYNAMICALLY BALANCED UNIT. MARK ALL PARTS OF THE CLUTCH BEFORE REMOVAL SO THEY CAN BE REINSTALLED IN THE SAME POSITION.
1. Remove the power take-off from the engine (see page 5.0-1).
THE POWER TAKE-OFF AND SUPPORT WEIGH APPROXIMATELY 600 POUNDS AND COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY IF THEY WERE TO TIP OVER. SECURELY BRACE THE POWER TAKE-OFF HOUSING.
2. Set the power take-off on end with the sheave face down. Securely brace the housing to prevent the power take-off from tipping over. 3. Make a mark from the clutch backplate onto the hub.4. Mark the four capscrews for identification during reassembly then remove the capscrews.5. Remove the backplate from the clutch. 6. If the outer friction disc is in two pieces, mark each half so the friction disc can be reinstalled with the mating surfaces in the same relationship as when they wer
