Turn the engine "OFF".
Disconnect the fuel outlet line (2) from the ARD fuel pump. Refer to Illustration 1.
Install the applicable tools that are listed in Table 2 to the outlet port of the pump.
Connect the fuel outlet line (2) to the swivel tee.
Connect the electronic service tool. From the menu, select "Diagnostics" and then select "Diagnostic Tests". From the diagnostic tests menu, select "Override Parameters".
Start the engine.
On the electronic service tool, select "Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
Record the pressure from the pressure gauge.
Deactivate the override.
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
Remove the tools and then reconnect the fuel outlet line to the ARD fuel pump.Note: Use a new O-ring seal on the fuel outlet line.The pressure must be within specifications. The pump pressure must be 1900 120 kPa (275.5 17.4 psi).Results:
The pump pressure is above the specification. - Proceed to Test Step 4.
The pump pressure is within specifications. - If a 3480-15 code with an ETI of 6 is present, proceed to Test Step 4.
The pump pressure is within specifications. - If a 3480-15 code with an ETI of 1 is present, proceed to test step 7.
The pump pressure is within specifications. - If a 3480-16 code is present, proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. Check the Current Flow Through the Nozzle Heater
